MyDisplayName2000
I'm looking at building one of the these for a lot cheaper. Maybe its due to the prices falling and quality getting better with Chinese pre-made 7 by 5 plates, in a frame, with separate heaters and temp sensors fitted into the pressing plates. I've seen videos of builds using these ready to go sets. Its called the Dabpress. On fleabay, shipped from UK though as someone has bulk purchased these units for resale. I'm looking at paying just over £300 for the 'dabpress' and about £120 for a 20 ton H frame hydraulic press. Is this all I will need? Aside from the bags to hold the bud and so on? Here is the unit I'm looking at Looks like I just put the unit above on the press. The unit has a LCD screen with two sensors reading the heat from each plate. Hope someone can chip in here and even better if someone has purchased one of these Dabpress units.

Arthur Mix
@MyDisplayName2000 , this was when you could not buy dabpress , also remeber I use much better pics heaters and thermocouples all Uk sourced stuff ... I hope that the internals have been tidied up now , have you checked inside the control boxes yet , I tend to keep quiet but have had one to look at from early and it was a bit badly assembled with no earth ..
golf.007
I think dabpress managed to get CE safety stamp put on them after passing some testing if that means anything. I notice newvape also use their boxers on their premium presses. Shame you can’t hook a nail to them though.
Arthur Mix
@golf.007 it’s possible to make it operate an enail. You just need to figure out which wires are for thermocouple and heater then figure out connection.. Also the CE mark or C E mark notice the gap, one means Chinese export the other that it’s deemed safe most electronic have the Chinese export one to fool people .. something I found out quite a while ago Edited August 21, 2019 by Arthur Mix Addition information
MyDisplayName2000
@Arthur Mix Appreciate all the info you've given, I read this thread a while back but cost was beyond me. I'll take a chance on the Dabpress and I've seen it used in quite a few builds and quite a few rebranded units. I've also broken the other halfs hair straightener. A few years back rosin was a kind of niche market. Now its heading to the point were its becoming more and more commercial. Some shitty units out there. There is one that looks like a sandwich toaster. There is also one that is a hollow metal plug thing. You squeeze in the bud and then use a clamp to press down and compress bud releasing rosin. You use a gas blow torch to heat it up. Others have a basic wheel to turn the pressure. I've seen the Dabpress in those units. I'm onto the drip press now also. Just need to choose a H frame I can put on the side. Now I'm here, I'm looking at the pre-press moulds. Do we really need one? Cheers for now, will update when I've got it up and running.
golf.007
I love my dabpress bottle tech prepress and just pressing a couple of grams at a time without a bag works great but I get most pleasure from squeezing a 7-8 gram puck in a bag. Is there still a fully source able parts list? Sterl
M Pamplemousse
Piece of the proverbial..... If you follow @Arthur Mix directions, it seems pretty easy. Source the electrical components from 'undrr control instruments'. I used rs components for other bits as maplins no more. I used 'metals4u' or something to like that for plates. Blocks cut to size..... Im hoping to use precision engineering firm for drilling but if not, I would use my drill press and go for it.... 10t press from any online co. I've bought a Clarke strong arm but others have been recommended..... Am following AMix photos and I've almost finished. I do have a mate who knows how to use a continuity tester jobby and he has tested for safety/stupidity and all good. This is the bit I would recommend as I'm not a sparky and I have a healthy respect for electrics. So I would recommend.....

sterling-archer
@Oldbear I have found another company in the Uk with plates and pid ready to go for £400 in stock They are not caged so i will have to make sure i line them up well 4x7 plates. They do caged ones too but i wanted the slightly larger plates. Once ive ordered some and all is well ill post up on here the company 4x7 or 3x5 caged were my options on the budget Edited August 26, 2020 by sterling-archer
