@RandyBoBandy  the 7740 is a bit of a con imo & tbh, a i5 7600k or i7 7700k is still too dear tho they are both excellent cpu's

but will intel drop the price or will they keep selling them at top whack before discontinuing them.

tbh, I'd go with a AMD set up as your getting more bang for your buck, also, if you do go for an i5 or an i7, get faster ram  ie ddr4  3200+

What games are you going to play?

  • Asus X299 TUF Mk2 Motherboard
  • Up to 32GB of 2666MHz Memory
  • High Performance CPU Cooler options.

they must love noobs like me trying to build a pc..

Sounds like massive overkill to me?

Spend half that amount now, half in 5 years, you're good :yep:

yeah im gonna forget the 299 mobo's as ive read they like to fry cpu's...

im just trying to make sure i can run anything i chuck at it pretty much full on.. and also making sure i can upgrade in the future with no probelems... just wish i was techy..

im not gonna bother with pre built now.. ive watched a few youtube vids and i think if there is 2 of us on it... we should be alright..

to be honest.... ive not looked at games for a long wile.. mainly because it pisses me off that i cant play them.. so i dont look.. but id be going back and playing anything decent i missed..

red dead redemption

i played far cry 3 on this on low so id like to play 4

id like to check out gta

prey

the witcher

i can play csgo on low.. but id like to play that full on.. plus other online games ive never been able to play because ive always been very limited..

played fallout 3 on this on low.. would like to play 4

im not gonna look in to games untill i have a new pc....

im not a hardcore gamer... obviously as id have a decent pc already... but i wanna be able to just get lost in a game again...

and im not getting a console... ive tried and i dont ennjoy as much.. i like online games with mouse and keys.. im not one for sitting half way across the room either..

also want something that if i feel the need to spunk 700 odd quid.. i can go get vr set.. plug n play

this things just an optiplex 755... i got it free from an old job about 10 years ago.. as its one of thos slim pc's i just put a low profile amd radeon hd 5570 in to it.. and beleive it or not i managed to play quite a few games back then lol..

what size of monitor & whats its refresh rate like ?

cause if your going to use a high end system, you need to have a decent monitor to give it justice, as for building it yourself,

it's very easy to do & if your unsure about something, check out some vids on youtube.

Well my old pc gave up.. the hd went... daughter wasn't happy not being able to play roblox.. its not the same on her tablet... so I needed to hurry up and get a pc..   being in a shitty place(my head) I wasn't gonna attempt to build so I just bought one... wasn't long after my last post..

Pc specialist

7700k 4.20

16 gig

Gtx1080

Loving it...

I've now stuck a new hd in the old one for daughter

I've only just got off the pc.. been playing most of the night... Just see this msg on my phone..

Haha sorry for the spend Up! Worth it tho :D hope your enjoying it

@mrrichiet

Also edit to add sorry for wasting people's time helping me out about building one... it really was much appreciated..     I really was up for building one at the time...  but I hit anxiety and depression pretty hard...  Didn't even use it myself until tablets kicked in...   I'm pretty much back to being me... gaming really  helped me take my mind of shit too

Hey no need to apologise dude, at least your head is in a better place now :)

It sounds like your PC is VR ready then - if\when you can afford to go that route, I strongly recommend it!

No worries about my spend up, it's not a problem, I just mentioned that in jest.

Cheers, all the best.

Vivecraft is pretty cool actually, your daughter would love that. Having said that, they don't recommend (i.e. they're covering their arses) them for children under 13 as it can be a bit intensive\immersive and I do wonder what will happen to their young brains if they play it too frequently.

I've not really played the FPS like Doom VFR and Serious Sam, I may do those when they're on sale. Problem I see with those is that moving around isn't very good yet. I'm mostly enjoying Space Pirate Trainer and DiRT Rally, which as you say is something else. I've got one or two other titles like Blu, RecRoom and The Lab but they're not much fun for long, but the kids do enjoy them. I plan on playing some airplane games at some point (IL Sturmovic) and Elite as cockpit games are really good in VR but for now the focus is back to DiRT rally now that I've managed to get it working at last. I picked up a steering wheel and stand\seat etc. really cheaply off eBay so it's been quite a cheap way of getting a realistic simulator once you've got over the initial outlay for the HMD.

It is still in it's infancy though so after the initial buzz you could be left wanting, however, having said that, I'm still not unhappy about having made the outlay and I know it's going to get used a lot tomorrow when the family come round and see it for the first time (so you get value out of it in other ways)!
