Popular Post Fragg
Amsterdam - Fraggs Family's Sweetest Weekend - Trip Report Before starting this trip report I'd just like to thank uk420 for being an amazing place where such cool things are possible and of course Sweet Seeds for taking me and the missus to Amsterdam not to mention the 3500 Euros , on top of that also welcoming my kids along for the ride In particular I'd like to thank @Sweet Seeds-tommy for all his hard work organising..... well everything frankly and being a superb host for the weekend and @Sweet Seeds -Jaypp who was the just the friendliest and warmest person I've met in quite some considerable time. We had many smokes and laughs despite my non existent Spanish and him having to pester poor Tommy for words he didnt know To sum it up I felt I made 2 friends for life meeting them both and they are both always welcome to stay with me if they ever get the chance They are both past winners of the Spanish version of this competition over on cannabis cafe and it felt like they were welcoming me to the club which was really nice ....cheers lads! Right onto the report..... The night before I thought I had better get some sleep early for once, a thought I have had nightly pretty much all my life and as per usual it failed to happen I was simply too excited having never been to Amsterdam. I have also never had the opportunity to go on holiday, even for a weekend, with my whole family in the summertime so I was just over the moon at having this chance at last But yeah it meant bugger all sleep! The upshot was my wife and I plus youngest son were up at 6 with v little kip to leave the house at 7 am and pick up my eldest son an hours drive away in Carlisle at 8, then drive across the country to Newcastle for our 11am flight to the dam. We were messaging my daughter who was flying out of Gatwick as she lives in London and she was on track too, we were due to arrive about 10 mins apart in the dam My first task however was to make 3 pure spliffs with some Haze CBD to get my endocannabinoid system dosed up ready for the weekend and get into the right vibe I had one before we left, one in the car to Carlisle and one more on the final leg to the airport. Luckily my timings were perfect and by the time we got through all the damned checks they have at airports these days and scored a pair of Oakleys for my son, the boarding was just beginning ...phew we had made it just in time! Ready to fly high Landing in Amsterdam we discovered my daughter had landed before us and was waiting outside Schipol airport looking very happy to be back in the the dam with the famous "I amsterdam" sign behind her (it's not her in the pic!) We made our way to the train station and caught a train to Amsterdam central having been told they had double decker trains I wanted to try one but ours came and it was just single but it took us swiftly into central Amsterdam with our 5 Star d'art Hotel just across the road from the station. It was noticeably warmer then the piss wet Lake District we had left just hours earlier and promised to be a warm sunny afternoon Our first task was check in and we were greeted by the ever smiling Jaypp and we arranged to meet up with the rest of the party at 3 having taken our stuff to the room. The room was just superb with cool designs and 4 settings just for the lighting, mood was my fav The ceiling was damned high so no hope of popping a shower cap on the smoke detector but I had little intention of doing anything but sleep in the room so it didnt matter Speaking of which it was the most comfy bed I've ever slept in, seriously cosy I had meant to ask them what the mattress was but well I was a little baked most of the time and it slipped my mind! The central part of the hotel was this sculpture We all met up in front the the hotel at 3 I think it was, firstly @Highburyway and his lovely wife that we all got on great with, they really are just the sweetest couple, each one of my kids told me so individually which was nice I swore, as is my way I'm afraid, and said she thank God for that I thought I might have to watch how I speak The Spanish couples were both there too with their girlfriends/wives the eldest one Jeep having won this competition before was an old hand and his wife was lovely We also had a really sweet young couple from Sweet Seeds who would be covering the trip, I hope they are as I decided not to take any photos having seen the size of his....camera I decided not to get my compact out In all seriousness I wanted to enjoy the whole experience and soak it all up and not waste time worrying about photo composition and the camera so I must apologise in advance for the dearth of photos in this write up but I can promise you there will be some great photos and videos taken by others that I wouldn't be able to compete with I know @Sweet Seeds -Jaypp did a very cool video of our boat trip on Sunday I hope he can share with us all soon After some initial introduction we headed up the road to explore the city in the direction of Amsterdam Square and to find somewhere we could get a meal as we were all hungry and not a little tired. It turned out that all of us had little sleep the night before and so we were all tired and in need of nourishment. The weather was superb, I'd guess around 24/25 with a cooling breeze and the odd cloud to stop it being overly warm. We found an Italian restaurant for lunch that could fit us all in and had a swift meal of Pizza and Calamari washed down with Heineken. I'm not a drinker much these days but always wanted to try Dutch Heineken and it was superb tbh, I used to drink Heineken when I lived in Greece when I was younger and loved it but the Heineken in the UK was always shit by comparison. We then hit our first Coffee Shop the Feels Good, my Greek wife texted the kids saying we are at Phil's Good and I bought the first weed I've paid for in God knows how long! Fuck me the price too!!! However given I had an unexpected windfall I wasnt about to skimp due to the prices so I went for the priciest on their menu the A'dam haze which for a while I thought was Adams haze wondering who the fuck Adam might be? Well I was tired guys and with one of those pure Amsterdam haze spliffs later more than a little confused I also picked up a gram of Amnesia Haze to see what it was like but it was a little cheaper too. See the pic below for their weed menu. My 3 kids found us here having sorted their room and tucked in to some weed too, my eldest struggling with the pace not being a regular smoker at all The A'dam haze smoke was nice and strong I thought but tasted of hydro compared to my usual organic worm shit fed ganja but I wasnt going to let that fact spoil it I was up for the whole experience Jaypp had a bag of goodies and he started to hand out Sweet Seeds stickers and skins for us all bless him @Highburyway being the experienced pro he is had got some Moroccan hash to supercharge his spliffs with, a move I copied from there on, cheers mate I felt a massive relief to up the THC levels though and I felt nicely baked by the time we left to continue our amble around. Tommy then guided us, not for the first time, through the Red Light District that he seemed to be magnetically attracted to Just pulling ya leg mate We ended up by the clock tower with some old very articulate tramp telling us the history of the building I was gazing at, poor fella looked like alcoholic and asked for some spare change. I duly gave him some thinking what an elegant pitch for money, Highburyway also dug into his pockets for some shrapnel and our temporary tour guide shuffled off into the crowd and some better breaks in life with any luck. The next Coffee Shop was the Dampkring, this one I had actually heard of when I had looked up recommended Coffee Shops on Google before coming, it was packed when we walked in and we couldnt even find a place to roll having picked up some AG13 and some Super Silver Haze Luckily some tables cleared and we could sit down and skin up, I had hoped more vapes would be available in general around the coffee shops but decided pures was the way forward for the weekend I had to decline tobacco spliffs for the first time ever which felt weird Again I found the weed here strong but not exceptional and the flavours were nice as well, I think I got some black hash here too but it could easily have been elsewhere, in fact alot of the details in this report are a little bit ummm hazey shall we say Haze's were the theme of the day of course as they take so long to run at home so it was nice to try a variety from different places for once I'm sure we then went to another shop the name of which I cant for the life of me recall where I purchased yet more Haze and Black hash to give it some kick All the while we were walking further from the hotel a fact that Mrs Highburyway was becoming painfully aware of as she has a bad back and so was getting worried about finding somewhere to eat and sit down. We walked something like 9km that afternoon/evening Jaypp told me, so no wonder she was in pain, luckily I'm on my feet daily all day with my work so was OK despite being an old fart Looking back I'm personally glad we walked so much on the Saturday as it meant we saw as much of the city as we possibly could for one day and come the boat trip I knew places I had seen the day before and the place started to make sense ....a bit! Damn Amsterdam is a quirky place the houses with hooks leaning over so they could pull up their furniture to the top floors all multi-coloured and fairy tale like, its delightful I think as is the tolerance of the Dutch and calmness they seem to have Here's a few phone pics so apologies for the quality as you can see the weather was epic! But we sure did some walking! Mostly with my daughter telling me to get out of the road as the whole pavement/road/cycle lane thang in dam is not easy for a country bumpkin like me! I was screwing up all over the place Somehow over the course of the evening everyone peeled off to romantic dinners, hotels or live sex shows..... who knows!...... but it was just me and my wife and Tommy and Jaypp looking for a place to eat in the end and places were starting to close as we found an 'Argentinian' Steak House with tables on the street as I felt it was time Amsterdam walked past me for a change We filled the table with plates of food Mediterannean style with a massive pile of mixed grill meat taking centre stage and it was a really great meal just what I needed as I was starting to flag from the early start and lack of sleep, in fact I think everyone was really. We then headed back towards our hotel as it was around midnight to find a place to smoke nearby, we ended up in the Resin Coffee Shop and I picked up some Candy Kush and White Widow I think it was as a later night bedtime smoke. The rest of the Spanish posse were already there tucking into their smokes so it was nice to meet up again and it was a nice clean place with plenty room for us all but come 1 am we were turfed out and headed back to our hotel and our uber comfy beds for some desperately need sleep The Kush certainly levelled me out nicely for sleep but I could have slept standing up by then anyway! I was going to need my sleep as tomorrow would be filled with loads of fun like cookie eating, boat trips, cannabis cups, free judges weed handouts as well as freeing the weed itself at Cannabis Liberation Day If Highburyway, Tommy or Jaypp would like to correct anything my shocking recollection of the day's events please feel free guys As I type this my daughter has just landed and is already feeling the downer of being home that we have had this last day, it says something of how much the whole trip meant to us all how much we now miss it!! Fragg
Amsterdam - Fraggs Family's Sweetest Weekend - Trip Report Part II Waking up in the hotel, I had really enjoyed a superb night of sleep having being shattered from the day before as the bed was the most comfortable I have EVER slept in! I wasnt about to linger in my comfy bed however with the delights of Amsterdam outside the door! So I showered and headed for breakfast .....just for the experience really, I havent ever eaten breakfast in my life as I just cant face food in the morning. My wife and I for years had what we referred to as a 'Greek breakfast' of coffee and cigarettes but having given up the fags its just coffee these days apart from the odd wake and bake mornings So I pushed the boat out and had on orange juice and croissant with my black coffee wishing I could face all the wonderful options on the menu We met Tommy and Jayyp at breakfast and they said we would be meeting in the front of the hotel at 1 for the days activities and we could have the morning to ourselves So my wife and I headed out to get supplies like food for lunch, the "smokeboat" we were to be taking later would have beer but no food. More weed was also required So we headed up to dam square once again picking up a baseball cap for myself along the way as it promised to be a roasting day of 28 Celsius and my bald head was gonna fry We knew my daughter and youngest son liked Greenhouse and I had spotted it on our walkabout yesterday so we headed there for our morning wake and bake picking up some Super Lemon Haze for said purpose whilst letting the kids know we were there and to come along when they were ready. It was about 11.30 by now and already VERY warm, it was gonna get HOT today I had wanted to score some more weed from Greenhouse but they were out of the strains I wanted so I thought I will get some from elsewhere later.... My 3 kids arrived and we went food shopping then headed back to the hotel for the 1pm rendez vous at the hotel to meet up with everyone else ready for the "smoke boat" trip and the rest of the days festivities Everyone was in fine fettle having had a decent nights kip and looking forward to the day, Jaypp told me I was going to need my stamina today as it was going to be a busy day...sounded good to me! So we wandered off with the general idea of having a smoke and catching a boat and by this time we had also met up with a friend of my daughter that had recently moved to Amsterdam that was a friend of the family having met us all before too Tommy and Jaypp were cool as ever when I asked if it would be OK if he tagged along for the day Just before it was time to catch the boat Jaypp decided he was going for more weed supplies so I decided top idea and to join him and grab some more for myself too. We chatted away and got a little lost looking for the Voyagers Coffee Shop, we did pop in to Hill Street Booze an ex Coffee Shop that no longer sells but you can smoke there. As we entered one my fav songs was playing 'Under Me Sensi' by Barrington Levi and I thought, I wanna come back here later the vibe was so nice! @Sweet Seeds -Jaypp and I were in a world of our own chatting away happily until we realised we had run out of time and decided we would have enough smoke on checking our pockets. I still had some Malana and a gram of Nepalese Temple Ball plus a couple of bags of herb plus everyone else on the boat would have some....we could survive the hour we decided! We cancelled the dope scoring mission and headed back for our boat trip instead with me determined to get back to Hill Street Booze at some point later...... Jaypp did a cool time lapse from the back of the boat that he has posted on his Instagram that I will share with you guys here if he doesnt mind We were greeted by a very chilled out Captain and he agreed to the extra passenger without issue and then offered us beers on embarkation one of which we managed to smash immediately before even drinking a drop. The response of the Captain was v cool I thought "It's ok it happens" with that typical tolerance of the Dutch So a little plug to the most chilled captain of the canals in dam Yesterday we had agreed to do an unofficial prize ceremony on the boat as the number of tickets available for the HighLife Cannabis Cup/VIP area at the Cannabis Liberation Day was going to be limited and my kids would miss out on me receiving the award. So once we were underway @Sweet Seeds-tommy and Jaypp handed out goodie bags filled with loads of their rather excellent skins, 2 cool Sweet Seeds logo grinders plus stickers(my jars are suitably named now thanks lads!). Tommy then unveiled the very cool "cups" or rather embossed plaques that are really smart, telling me that these were only for the second place winners and that the first place guys had had enough stuff by now. I was baked enough that I fell for him pulling my leg as he revealed out mine I was well chuffed, they really are very posh! Here is a pic below Very cool and its sat next to me as I type reminding me of a wicked weekend that I hope never to forget But no that was not all we were getting big cheques for the presentation too, beautifully done with the cool Sweet Seeds logo on, their graphics guys really do a top job So here are a couple of me feeling very happy cruising the canals of dam, high as a kite with an ice cold Heineken ready to slay the thirst on this baking hot day showing off the cheque I even have my new Sweet Seeds T-Shirt on too and one more for the ladies So my daughters friend is just killing himself laughing at all this of course Personally I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and I thought that would be that on the gift front as I now really had just about all I could carry!! Tommy however had one more personal pressie up his sleeve....... one of his own homemade cookies for Highburyway and myself, Highburyway split his being the gent he is with his wife and I intended to split mine too, honest guv!, but before I knew it I had swallowed the lot.....oooops! Tommy later asked did you split it or eat the whole thing, he laughed when he heard I'd gobbled the lot Hey all I had booked for the afternoon was picking up a prize for winning a dope growing forum contest(formally), it seemed logical to me! I had been sorely tempted the day before by some Mexican shrooms I had seen, they are the cleanest of trips, but felt it was a bit off topic for this particular trip so a cookie would be as close as I was gonna get Tommy has told me twice which autos he used to make the cookies and twice I have forgotten! My apologies my friend but could you remind me a third and final time? They were really tasty with no noticeable 'weed' flavour at all, he has mastered the art of late night cookie baking I came up on them nice and gently but I was smoking supercharged joints so my levels were high in the first place but as is the way with edibles they last a few hours and so my next few hours were greatly enhanced I think its fair to say..... thanks to Tommy The Sweet Seeds guys then did a short bit of filming of all the prize winners with their plaques and cheques and T shirts on the back of the smokeboat, which hopefully they will share with us all shortly All too soon though we were arriving back at the dock having had a fantastic hour but feeling we could go another hour easily of such a sedate lifestyle, I can see why even the locals seem to enjoy boating around the canals of Amsterdam its blissful especially on edibles Awseome ship, hope she didnt sink any of ours back in the day! My eldest son that's a bit of a metal fan liked the name of this boat So with me coming up, having been greedy, on Tommy's cookies at the end of the boat trip is where I will leave it for tonight folks its getting late....... next stop Cannabis Liberation Day itself, more cookie and then formal presentation in the HighLife yurt I think it was? ....... Fuck knows I was flying by now hehe TO BE CONTINUED..... Edited June 14, 2017 by Fragg tagging
KingBlueRizla
Nice write up, I haven't read a Dam trip report in quite a while. Going to Amsterdam tomorrow, my first coffeeshop will probably be Feels Good too, as its nearish to the apartment. My friend rated the OG Kush hash last month when he was there, hopefully its the same batch.
