Seeing as its raining thought i would do some sifting.

First prepare some stuff to help the process. You need a plastic card to card with.like an old credit card.

tools To sift.G

Theses are the screens i use they are a good size not too large.

Top screen

Stacked together

screen Set

Trim used for this run

trim

Trim on top screen i card it across the mesh after i have broken the trim up a little with my hands.

trim Top screen

I work it all into one corner as easier to scrape up back into a container.

worked To One corner

This is the first grade which comes through the mesh 160 microns, this was a quick run not worked and worked.

first sift19

to show the depth

first Run sift ucleaned

carded straight to one corner in one pass=purer on screen bellow.

first pile uncleaned

2nd run to show difference in quality.

2nd Run darker

140 micron this has fallen through passively as i said above less carding is better for purity.Still a 107micron,70 micron to get to but will clean the 160and140 first then get to the 107 and 70

140 micron

carded up to show what fell through passively .

140 micron Not carden fall through

Right i am going to get back to it and clean the rest up.Will try and upload some more pictures later on. :oldtoker:

All depends when my sublimator gets repaired and sent back.I used to just place it on the moat of the head, works well.I might Rosin some of it up and just use a titanium nail.Or like i am now just put some in a joint.

So have just cleaned the 140 micron so it is now resting on top of the 107 micron screen.

Pile of 140 pre carding.

140 micron

You can see the debris/contaminants

Pre carded

carding it out spending it around gently moving across the screen.

carding

leftovers from what did not go through the 140 screen.on top of the 140.

Why We card

Cleaner resin sitting on top of 107 micron screen for more carding.

cleaned 140

will post some more after a coffee and sift break i may be a while :oldtoker:

Here is some more stuff to add.

The pile in the upper right is what fell through the screen passively, the pile on the left has been carded.

piles Of 140 micron

this is passively fallen 107 micron uncarded.

passive 107micron

This has also fallen through 107 and 70 micron onto acrylic sheet.

passive 70 micron

will clean all this up and keep the passively fallen stuff separate as its purer imo.

will add some pics of the sift when i press it later on.
This is the stuff i sifted out so not very clean will prob Rosin this first.

waste contaminant For rosin

@@botanics from a shop near where i live they are bubble man ones.

So this is how i press it.

Place sift in palm. then apply pressure with thumb.

pressing siftPG

It will bond together do this a few times and fold on itself and press hard with thumb.

press with thumb12

Then keep pressing and kneading about till it balls up.

pressed

It goes harder.

pressed obsession

Then when you handle it goes soft again.

pliable sift press19

now to smoke some. :oldtoker:

A little add on to the sifting i did another run for doing rosin with.

Chosen tools for the job,Slick sheet, pressing screen and hair straighteners.

rosin stuff

The sift used 2 grades pressed separate.

sift

Make a well in the pressing screen and place sift inside, push together using slight pressure from thumb.

sift In pressing screen

Make into a ball shape and twist.
Place in-between the slick sheet.

inside slick sheet

Then press for five seconds or so,or until the sizzling slows down.I use 150c lowest setting on the remmington's.

Looks great. How much trim did you use altogether?

I do not have scales at home bud,It was a turkish yoghurt pot half filled with dry trim prob a couple of ounces roughly. I have run it 3 times two of those times yielded better than the third.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just received my new screens they are 26 inch 20 inch 150u,135u,92uand70u. These came from a screen printing suppliers, they were more than helpful i have a feeling they know what they will be used for lol. four of them delivered cost £114 which i believe is much cheaper then the specific sift sets lol.

So i scraped up the sift and made a wrap from some plastic, placed the sift inside and taped it up so it did not come apart. I then double wrapped this in cling film so it did not split.I placed it inside my sock, put me boots on and went for a walk, which resulted in the sift coming out like this.

shoe pressed
