You could of had it re_circlating if you put a fine mesh netting in the bottom of the pots a bit like a Wilma system

Fair play to you. I have done a very similar project but for a maximum of 10 plants in 6L pots but only using 4 at the moment. I have used a 800L/H submersible pond pump that can be reduced to 600L/H. As for your filter system get some fine mesh (like 1mm squares) or get some tights and cut them into pieces that will go on the down pipe section back into the tank. They may restrict return flow so it's trial and error really..... good luck with the grow though.
