My apologies for the length of this post but you have to read it all please. It has to come in three parts owing to the number of pictures.

@ day 51 of 12/12. The dreaded BUDROT has made an appearance. It is always a worry and a possible problem that every grower has or will encounter so I am not disappointed really, as you will see.

Bud rot has lost me a good few flowers over the years, ruined a full crop once, 8 weeks in and all dead. I have learnt from my previous encounters and now do not panic when I find it.

As long as the foul and disgusting muck is removed promptly there should be no more showing it's putrid head.

So, what is BUDROT apart from a curse to growers. Here's a picture of some infected buds.

gallery_54925_4127_84371.jpg

As you can see, it is a grey, dirty looking muck that can remain hidden from view. It is important to remove and discard the infected area AS SOON AS IS POSSIBLE. It will spread virulently and will cause heartache for you.

PART TWO NEXT.

PART TWO

Here is the affected areas from The SWEET TAI 2 and my lovely lady PSICODELICIA 1

gallery_54925_4127_167302.jpg

Once we have broken apart the infected bud there are three distinct bud types in view; 1) the muck for the bin, 2) the bits that need a trim to remove the rest of the muck and 3) the un-affected buds and calyxes that have no rot on them.

1) gallery_54925_4127_91216.jpg

1) gallery_54925_4127_252069.jpg

2) gallery_54925_4127_64727.jpg

3) gallery_54925_4127_23838.jpg

This saved bud can be dried and smoked now as there are no spores left in the area. The binned stuff should never be consumed.

PART THREE NEXT.

Cheers

Here as you can see is where I cut the stalk that was holding up the rotted buds.

gallery_54925_4127_153860.jpg

Here you can see how the budrot has started to eat away at the stalk of the plant.

gallery_54925_4127_166267.jpg

Here you can see how the calyx underneath the affected area has been untouched.

Once the horrendous feelings of despair and the realisation that all is not lost we can continue growing the plants for another few days if we constantly check the plant for more signs of the rot starting.

There we have it. Please remember to check your plants for signs of this. It usually starts at the top third of the big dense top buds. Those who like fat buds, more akin to indicas, than the leafy sativas, can expect to find this more often than not. Treat it with respect but do not think that all the hard work that you have put in is worthless. You can save them providing early detection and swift action is done.

The remaining plants, including TAI 1 are so far unaffected but they will have a special eye on them over the next few days. It is now looking like an 8 week chop time as I want to save as much as I can. The longer I leave it the worst it could be. I am holding out for the fortune of finishing the rest of the week unaffected.

All the best of luck in your grows my friends. May the gods be smiling on you.

Cheers :smokin:

Enjoy.

I did like the "all fine here" part Hiphip,

so why this nasty happening? Low extraction rate on lights off period?

NMA

Yes my friend. I have obviously not dialled in the Hydro120s yet as it was fine in my grow room. Ah well, live and learn. Can't get another 'til Friday so I am living on a prayer for a few days. However, one should never despair because it all evens out in the end.

My worst case was on Skunk 1 a while ago. I did not know what it was back then so I hope that the above proves useful to someone. I have just checked again and it all seems fine.

All the best mucker.

Ohh man, sorry to hear about the bud rot, I had it happen to me last year, I nearly cried when I saw it! Still, the bud that's been saved should hopefully make up for it as it's looks nice and frosty :yep:

Thanks Serp's. I imagine that we all have either had, or will have some. It is a foul and nauseous substance. You will see later that all is well again as a swift response usually sorts it. I feel for the outdoor growers I do. Thanks for stopping by mate.

I'll be back soon with an update on the affected ladies.

All the best folk.

SWEET TAI 1 @ 53 days of 12/12. As you will see, I believe that she has been saved. The buds are very dense and resinous which may be a blessing or a curse depending on your viewpoint. Loving care and attention will be shown over the coming week. I am going to chop her at the latest a week from today, meaning 60 days not the recommended 63. But, that all may change of course and she may be cut a week early. We will wait and see. However, rambling on, she is smelling divine. A wonderful floral scent from her.

As you can see there are still as lot of heavy dense buds on her and she looks quite healthy. I will, as said, keep a close eye on her from now until the eventual chop.

Many thanks for looking and may your grows be free of the dreaded stuff. Back later with PSICO 1, my still lovely sativa lady.
