Guest Archangel
No shit this is the defintive choice..... Ive tried pretty much every security suite anti blah blah and computer system optimizers as i use torrents..... All i use now is Kapersky security suite 6 includes firewall, spyware, adware, virus, malware etc.... Updates everyhour!!!! System mechanic pro 6 speeds and cleans and has made my internet and computer clean and super fast...... others didnt really work.... Having no conflictions as just 2 programs do everything....its the shit.... Was using zonealarms security 6 and after installing kapersky it found 3 malware blah blah that zone alarms didnt detect....Zone alarms sucks compared to this.... same with most of em even norton and macafee. Anyways it sorted my laptop out................I really recomend those programs but u will have to pay unless your bad.....

binary
http://www.kubuntu.org/ Might be wise to point out to those who are not aware, this isn't a Windoze based AV/Anti-Spyware app but a complete OS.

toke-toke
Having used PC's for many many years and tried all the so called spyware removers I now run Xp using mozilla firefox with no firewall or so called protection and I NEVER (yes, NEVER) have the slightest of virus or spyware problems whatsoever... IMHO the so called spyware removers do nothing but infect your system with their own bugs and spyware, it's all a load of rubbish. Scan results... ''You have 3,456,342 viruses which we have just removed free of charge for you, BUT if you send us 50 quid we will wipe the 15 most harmful ones off your system which we just installed whilst you were running our virus scan programme'' Nuff said Toke

Zonealarm do a decent free firewall. Seriously, not all spyware removal programs are out to get you, though A LOT of them are. Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Spybots Search and Destroy and quite a few others are absolutely fine. Damn man, don't go posting advice like that. Firefox is an awesome browser though. eri
btw. XP actually comes with a firewall (turned on by default), that's probably why you don't get many problems. You should check it does exist in your control panel though. It sucks though. It also won't do much to stop adware (though Firefox will help). toke-toke
Ooops, my mistake I actually have E-Trust anti-virus running away in the background. But this aint my pc anyway. Although when I had a laptop I never bothered with firewalls and I never had any problems, I honestly found that when trying the so called spyware removers all they seemed to do was put $#!t on my machine that wasnt there prior to running the actual programme that was alledgedly cleaning up my machine. To be blunt, just don't download porn and be careful what sites you look on. Toke
eri
Most of them are like that, but this one : LAVASOFT AD-AWARE http://www.lavasoft.nu and this one : SPYBOTS S&D : http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html ... are DEFINITELY not. I've been using them for years mate.
Boojum
I'm not a computer bod, but when I was online it seemed to me that the XP integrated firewall did little other than slow my PC down. Zone alarm seemed to be a lot more useful, and didn't appear to slow the machine down half as much. Oh, and as has been said previously, adaware and spybot S&D are essential. Some spyware removers may be bogus, but not those. Zone alarm plus those two plus firefox as your browser at the bare minimum, I'd say (and disable the XP firewall, in fact the whole XP security centre, it just eats system resources).
