Davey
Hi, I basically need a light which will give my babies 2 - 3 weeks inside in a small chamber i've build before I transplant them outside. For this reason i'm going to B+Q. I realise I need a flouro light, but how the hell do I recognise what this is? Are halogen lights flouro? I take it a normal strip light would NOT work.... I'm looking to get it bought soonish, so the sooner you can tell me the sooner i'll be Cheers! One other thing, how do these buggers connect to the mains because I have parents to my germnation chamber is acctually 3 shoe boxes connected with some pretty nifty construction. I could run to a mains connection from the boxes no problems but to the roof would be most impossible ------ Edit: ------ w00t! Thats what is in my bedside lamp, i could rig that into the box without a problem and with minimum suspicion! J-bo
Flouros are those long white tube lights, like whats in schools and stuff. You can get one of those small wadded up looking energy saving flouros that would twist right into your bedside lamp. I figure it would keep them alive for a few weeks. But hey man, this is just off the top of my head. I could be way off. J-bo

Davey
you cant class my setup as a growroom really, I'm mighty chuffed with it for 10mins with some selotape and a craft knife though A few of them halogens in the lid then? I lined my box with kitchen foil (dull side showing), although in such a small area i dont know why i did it, but hey! It'll be great having 15 babies going in my room with the parents blissfully unaware
Davey
OK, What about these? 300W x 2, however they give "crisp white light" when I should be looking for "cool white light" (warm being more for flowering, yes?) I'll get into the shop as soon as possible and have a looksies!
Wilbur Nutsack
Davey Halogens are totally useless for growing. They give off the wrong spectrum and will cause your plants to stretch like hell. Any sort of flouro would be better. Wilbur

I'll nick some coax cable later and wire it up for a test. All the stuff I bought only came to £9.86! Thank God for Wilkinsons B+Q wanted to charge me 6.99 for a nickel plated light fitting.
