you where gonna mix perlite with soil?

both are growing mediums, with pros and cons for each

ya can use them together or own their own so dont panic just use soil alone and be careful not to waterlog them as perlite would add extra drainage i think {never used it}

if ya are on a strict budget though, later on ya might want to switch to clay pebbles as they can be re used a few times as long as you wash them properly so work out a little cheaper than using perlite

Yes they will be ok just watch that you dont overwater,I use 40% perlite in my mix.

Bit more work involved in watering more,but less chance to overwater.

Depends on the size of pot ?

I usually transplant when the plant covers the surface area of the pot when looked at from above.

Sometimes the root has only just been visible on the edge of the soil.

If you have a water meter it will help a lot in regulating watering.

Dont be worried about the soil mix at the moment if all looks good,Just watch the watering,Feel the weight of the pot when wet and dry.

ok but surely i will need to wait for a rootball to happen befor i can repot

You are right mate lol

Take no notice of how big the plant is :sweaty:

The denser the rootball the healthier the plant through flowering :toot:

wait til the root tips are showing through the holes in the bottom of the pot before you repot.

perlite is useful but not essential. it helps to drain the soil mix and keep air in it which is what you don't get if you overwater it. you can mix some sand in to help drainage if money is short.

the beauty of cannabis is that it will grow fairly well in really shitty conditions so you can start off really cheap if you need to and fine tune things when you've more spare money. specialist canna ferts and things only started to come in in the nineties and before that we just used what was in the garden shops. necessity is the mother of invention (frank zappa)

Got any pollystyrene? it is used as an airater also its light and you can break it up into smaller bits easy. i use the white chips which are easy to break up when mushed together in hands, also the white blocks made of small almost rounded balls. the stuff repells water, im not saying its a compleat substitute for perlite but it does help with drainage and getting oxegen to the roots. i like to use gravel and perlite to though and anything elce i can find.
