Is it best to water at nightime or early morning? I ask this as I'm not a natural at plants And I cant help but notice all the older ladies and gents where I live tend to water at night/early evening same as my mum did! If you water just before lights out then the plant is heading towards its restful state it could leave the soil overly moist during that period. That's my take on it anyway. The way i understand it is if you water them just before lights out you stand a good chance of the humidity goin' sky high as the temps drop during the dark period.
