:huh:had myself set upon getting just the one light,(600w hps 4ftx4ftx6ft growroom, growing in a 424 nft tank)but iwas down the local grow shop yesterday buying a 4" Lti fan for the set up,& the subject got onto lighting;on mentioning that i would be growing under just the 1 light,he reckond that i would be better growing under either 2x600w or even better 1x1000w.I'm a total novice but very eager apprentice to this game;I've spent a labour of love building the grow room,& now i'm putting in the overtime at work to pay for everything else, which the missus is quite chilled about.Anyway i'm not innit for any other reason but to able to grow the best bud & have the top bollox hobby right on my own doorstep.

so any info on this will be greatly received. Muchos grascias everyone.MT

If maximum yield is your aim each 424 is just under 6 sq ft so 2 of them under a 600 would give you 50w per sq ft, assuming mylar close to the sides of the tables this is plenty of light. If you spread each table so the canopy completely filled your 16 sq ft area, either using a 1k or two 600’s the yield would still not get anywhere near what you could produce if you had 4 tables with a 600 over each pair ie used 24 sq ft of space instead of 16.

Yields per watt above 50 w per foot sq have less and less return per w unless you use additional Co2. With sufficient Co2 the plants can use light over 75w per sq ft efficiently but that requires a much more sophisticated ventilation system.

Why don’t you do a couple of grows with a 600w light first and get your growing tuned, you can always add more light at a later date.

Gotta agree with ot1 here.

I often hear about people throwing staggering amounts of cash at a grow set up before they've even got the basics set. Without getting the basic things right, no matter how much money you spend, your not going to get a good return. Start small, get some experience and then you may find that you dont need to get so big to get what you wanted anyway.
