MrG.
Hi All, when my grow at the moment has finished I'm going to be swapping from hand watering to Hydro. I've decided to go with Advanced Nutrients - Sensi Coco Grow/Bloom A&B. I have bought an Origin 4 pot large (50 ltr) and will be using RO water. Q. Will I need any other additives like B-52 or Cal+Mag etc and will I need a water heater? I've never used Hydro before, so all this is a learning curve for me. Cheers for any info
Shumroom
Water temperature should be kept around 18 - 21C, so you may need a water heater or cooler depending upon your setup and ambient temperatures. Yes you’ll require a Calcium and Magnesium replacement if using RO water. You’ll still have to hand water to some extent when the plants are putting down roots early on. stu914
You don't need to use RO with Advanced nutes or any of their additives. I only use PH Perfect a+b grow and bloom plus Buddhas Tree PK during flower, nothing else. These nutes are strong so only use 1/2 strength what they recommend, get a Bluelab EC Truncheon, you'll need it. Have a look in my profile at "Mish-Mash" and "Gavie" and you'll see how I grow. Tag me if I can help bud. 3
stu sleeper 20vt
What is your reason for r.o. water? Origin system are better known to growers as a wilma system. I suggest using coco in your pots as its familiar to most growers...its basically a drip feed system and what im using at the moment actually. how big are the pots? 11 litre pots are plenty big enough. any bigger is a waste of coco and is counter productive imo First things first... do you own a ph pen and an ec pen? These are essential bits of kit for a new hydro grower so you can set everything up correctly and keep an eye on things as you go. The cheap meters are fine. As this is in the nutrients section I won't go on as its off topic. I suggest you make a grow thread in the hydro or grow diary section. Will be following you....,cheers for the advice Edited Monday at 00:13 by MrG.

Difficult to judge how strong you need to feed but mine never reaches their recommended strength on the bottles. Best to start very low and work up from there. I go on the bluelab truncheon figures....if 24 hours after setting the reservoir the number goes down, then the plants are feeding and need stronger feed, if it goes up, too strong so dilute the mix.
