sweettooth
As I'm now the proud owner of 2 new gen 2 fans, I thought I'd try and repair the 2 non working fans, why not?? a butter knife round the fan grill to pop it off. 4 small screws under the fan The fan part lifts off You can find the oscillating motors online, now to find one with carbon steel gears or something stronger than plastic The particular fan, the wire started to fray so that's what aim also replacing will let you all know how I get on
sweettooth
28byj46-t026-12v is the actual part number of the motor but can only find 28byj48-t026-12v wonder if 48 is an upgrade to the 46? cheap so no bother if it doesn't work

darXound
Can the motor be taken apart? I saw a guy doing it on YT to show the problem, wondered if it could just be cleaned out, re-greased and reassembled

Flamedodger
Great idea mate. Parts are pennies for most modern stuff. Hope it works
sweettooth
I ordered 2 of the 48 versions of the zon for 7.50, all step motors go both ways and it's the programming that tells it which to oscillate and when, arrival in a couple of days, just need to replace that tight cable fitting, will probably find a small rubber grommit, will post parts when I find them. Didn't need a grommit. After cutting the wire I was able to push it through and the plastic one used is reusable. I'll use a small chocolate box to connect the cable and put inside the housing. Saves me getting crimps and reconnecting the white plastic connector. Edited April 20 by sweettooth
Arthur Mix
Wonder what made them use injection moulded plastic without any rubber for a cable ?

sweettooth
28BYJ-48 step motors arrived. bif of a difference (old at the top, new at the bottom) will return these, don't think I can get a larger socket due to the sizing of the circuit board contacts so 28BYJ-46 I have to find
MindSoup
Can't quite make it out from here, but I reckon if they have the same amount of wires you could probably splice the old connector onto the new one. Would help if they were the same colour .
Flamedodger
It looks like cables are the same colour, wago them, see how it goes

Would help if they were the same colour . on closer inspection, the metal pins inside the plastic housing are the same size, its just the physical clip that is more spaced out, I'll see if I can use a pin and remove them and swap over to the former connector. I could also wago them, shouldn't matter about colour, as long as cable 1 goes to cable 1, etc, etc. nothing gained nothing lost so far, work in progress. no luck finding the 46 motor unless I Alibaba it
