This is strangely absent from most British news stories. Maybe the media are also in the pockets of pharmaceuticals? Either that or too embarrassed to report the social progress of a European nation..

They are.  The guardian does 50:50 coverge between common sense and an anti-cannabis actor, but the press generally only perpetuate the "mindbending skunk" narrative of how dangerous cannabis is.

The same institutions that unilaterally ousted the harry and megan egos in the face of his fascistic and narcissistic family being revealed are broadly told what to write.  Sometimes it is obvious what they are doing, sometimes less so.  Bearing in mind that 2 newspaper editors have mentioned a time when Johnson told them to put x, y or z on the front page, the relationship is clear.

That said, when something IS revealed and they can't possibly cover it up without it being an obvious whitewash, they turn on each other like sharks and point the finger at the other to try to escape the limelight.

It will only take revelations about the government members lying about cannabis to protect their investments and those of their chums and of one paper covering something up and the landscape might shift enough for cannabis legalisation to become a thing.  Currently, people are at best apathetic and at worst, fearmongering Daily Mail / Telegraph / Express believers. The Times readers and those of the Guardian broadly know cannabis isn't a threat and is a valuable medicine, but they're the best of a bad UK audience IMHO.

Holy crap 4 days on from the the most historic, 2:1 positive vote,  2nd (or is it 3rd) most popular social drug on the planet, in one of the richest, most populous, G7 member nations, aka practically the head of the EU, Germany!!!!!!!!

....and not a word in the media yet except 'alternative' outlets.

No X storm, no BBC, no Observer/Guardian, no weekend broadsheet or anywhere else I've looked. I don't do Instagram, so maybe there?

It's like it didn't happen.

Anyone else reckon this is strange?

Practically a D-Notice situation.  They can ignore it, but it will creep out and then the success story in a year saying how much crime has dropped and how much their GDP has improved and so on.  Then the legalisation will be widened and other EU states will follow suit.  In 5 years, the lies our governments tell will start to sound as hollow to Daily Mail reading thickies as they does to most of us now.

At that point, if our lazy, malleable and compliant nation can be bothered to raise even a single finger, maybe we might see similar here.  They'll have run the country further into the ground then and will need a new source of income for sure.
