Amnesialocal
Hi all, I took in August 23 few cuts of Hawaiian Snow by GHS ( Although I am not a fan of the house, I consider Hawaiian and Thai are particularly amazing bright strains, and I had only this seed at that time). Continuing a reflection about genetic conservation, low impact energy consumption and a flair to experimenting I decided to carry on the following experiments: Experiment #A: A few cuts where left outdoor into a green house covered with bubble wrap and a solar lamp working at night with the intent to create additional light pollution. The rooted cuts were located outside on September 2023. Until End of December they show some good resistance to the environmental conditions. The frozen days have definitely impacted the healthy of then plant and the green house wrapped didn't keep probably temperature above 0. Cursiosly I have few cactus also which did better than HS. slang and snail were the main problems HS Outdoor 14.01.24 HS Outdoor 17.02.24 Experiment #B I really like this thread: And I though as well to give a try. I put in the fridge with previous boil the container to sterilise them 3 cuts of HS on 15.11.23. simple rock wool block ( stupid the idea of the jar as it damage the cut when trying to remove them!) HS Fridge 0.4.01.24 HS Fridge: 17.02.24 Definitely the system could be considered effective for few weeks. After 6 weeks ( 1st picture above the cut in my opinion was already not healthy. Probably 2-3 weeks could be considered a range for high rate of cloning %. A note regarding the medium. The high humidity that you can see on the picture was probably the main responsible for the problems. I will try to use MS next time, sterilising the container and perhaps sterilising in 10%bleach ( as per tissue culture protocols) but still storying the cut into the fridge without light. A separated proper DIY tissue culture experiment will be realised as soon as I will have some genetic to play with. Experiment #C I took 1 cut of HS and I brought inside and left windowsill, trying to hide it and keep humidity, hoping to find a way of producing light pollution enough for the plant to stay in vegetative stage. I definitely failed on this:) As you can see the cut from August didn't grow a lot, staying almost in a coma stable stage. In the last 3 weeks started flowering. Hopefully I can achieve the 21.03 and put her back in revegetative. HS Indoor 17.02.24 Edited February 17 by Amnesialocal 5 Link to comment
Amnesialocal
An update after the solstice No nuts, only windowsill sun and water. Let's see if she will start reveging finishing flowering or just dying. Cut done on August 2023 3 Link to comment
