Help with Ca Mg/

Sorry to start a another thread :wallbash:

In another thread I was advised to sort my water out and mine needed a bit more Magnesium

an I needed Mono Magnesium or Epsom salt.

Bought the Mono Mg but have no idea how much I need to add...bottle just says add 1 or 2 ml and little else

Calcium 24.4

Magnesium 3.48

Only thing that's holding me back is this

The ratio is 3:1, so you need to add about 3.5mg/L. I use epsom salts so I don't know the maths for mono mag, but the information will be written on the bottle so you should be able to work it out.

24.4/3 = 8.13mg/l this is the ideal amount of Magnesium for the amount of Calcium in your water :)

Since you already have 3.48mg/l you only need to add 4.65mg/l of Magnesium.

You can do this using Epsom salts or mono Magnesium ;)

Let us know which you’ll use,

as there’s one more calculation to be made as they are both still only a % of pure Mg

Mono Mg is 7% :)

Since you require 4.65mg/l of Mg

if Mono Mg was 100% you'd give 4.65ml/l of water.

But it's not,

it's only 7%

4.65/7 x 100/1 = 66.428

So you need 0.066ml/l of mono Mg

I'm not sure if that's right lol

@Oldbear haven't seen you for a while,

could you double check me numbers please ?

But a 1ml weighs 1gram, which is 1000mg? So you'd need 0.0465ml? Not saying your wrong I'm already baffled.

Is there not something written on the bottle? Is the label a peel back book thing? Just saying 7% is weird, I thought mono was supposed to be the easier one to figure out, but Epsom is way easier, its just under 100mg of mag per g of epsom.

Thanks @MindSoup I've been replacing the spread on my lunchtime rolls with coconut oil lollollollol

So you need 0.66ml/l of mono Mg :toot::toot::toot:

So you need to give this every time you water,

except when running down nutrients at the end of bloom.

Just asking others does this look ok??

I'm fairly sure it's right :smokin:

Yeah that's the same as I just worked.

It's 70,000mg/L 70,000/4.65= 15,053.7... and 1000/ 15,053.7...= 0.0664...
