I currently use EcoThrive Lite 50/50 with Charge. As 'lite' describes its not very nutrient heavy. Charge is basically beetle poo (frass). I haven't started seeds in it because it is a 50% perlite mix (big lumps). I tend to start seeds in peat pellets & move them up. With an established plant, in my opinion, you will need a Coco compliant nutrient feed & a CalMag (or Epsom salts) additive. Also, PH your water to 5.5-6.0. Get a good microbe tea to run through it as well.

Compared to a compost substrate you are basically going hydroponics.

One day they will crack peat free compost. Hopefully.

@Scottishhomegrower Ecothrive do an organic soil and coco range, ecothrive lite refers to the coco. I’ve been using ecothrive soil in 50l pots for a while now, that’s a minimum size suggested for use iirc. It’s definitely not too hot, I’ve been dropping beans in it no problem. It’s not made for chemical salt fertiliser, they will actually ruin it.
As Lux mentions, coco is like using pebbles or rockwool, it’s just a substrate for delivering fertiliser, both methods are very productive.

Both products have specific methods for growing and I’d suggest looking at some no-till/organic diaries, if it’s the soil you wanna grow in, or the coco grows if you want to give that a try :yep:

Ive used it a couple of times with canna coco A+B with a ph of 6 to 6.3 in a softwater area and it seems a good medium.
