Amnesialocal
Hi all, I hope this is the right place to post. I understood ( please correct me if wrong), that an hps light consume more than what defined by the bulb wattage. For example a 600w with magnetic ballast consume 660w while with digital 620w....( I read this in internet). Also I heard someone saying that at the wall for HPS always is required to add 10-20% more ( 60-120w) Can someone clarify the above? Is there a table to understand which wattage? (125-250-400?) Also can someone clarify if an LED say 200w at the wall is 200w or 220-240w? Many thanks in advance
Herbal Kint
I think digital hps ballast is 650w of total,600w led is 610w or summin like that. Your socket is 3kw,should be
catweazle1
Amnesiasocial. I would get a socket power meter. They are quite cheap. You can nail down what each appliance costs.
Lux_Interior
If you buy a decent LED light that claims to be 600W then then that is what it should draw from the socket. Or the manufacturer is lying to you. @catweazle1 A socket meter is a good shout.
catweazle1
The other thing to factor in is HID bulb replacement cost every season or two.

I think manufacturers like to show straightforward numbers. It's only an error of less than 2%.
