Hi lads. Just curious if anyone here has ever used the trail cameras that give live updates to your mobile phone? Im pretty sure they exist haha.

If so, how were they? Not cheap from what I can see either.

i saw 300 euros...for a good online cam...

you have to know what you do....to stay anon...so that cam does not give you away....

in ukrane....they can trace and kill the operator of a standard hobby drone....... ( so some army specialist can make them anon now )

Great idea, but you don't want anything like say err, cannabis plants in view, tbf!

Wildlife watching remotely, now that is a good look.. :hippy:

Ooooo very nice.

Does Reolink have access to the live feed as well though? How much it set you back mate?

Bought online mate, same as the ones Downsouth is using, actually watched the opposition on the cams removing a plot of plants and they didn't spot the cam, could hear them chatting, they are around £170?Tech is improving and prices are coming down.

You can also repurpose an old smartphone. Some good apps will turn it into a security camera. Probably better for monitoring an indoor grow, but possible to use outdoors too.

Obvs for outdoor use you'll need to put it in a waterproof case, and maybe add an external battery pack. You need a burner SIM with mobile data, and a burner Google/Apple account. But, if like me you buy cheap Android phones and replace them every 4-5 years, it's a relatively low cost option to turn one into a security / trail cam.

I use a few budget brand ones, victure, apeman and others.

Not live to devices. They take photos/videos which I always check on arrival before I enter the plot.

Just need to make sure to not have any branches of other things dangling in view as you’ll be checking through 600 photos of a branch being blown back and forth. :wallbash:

Good investment though as you see if anyone has been about

Instant motion notification with 1 click you get live video feed. Takes SD also for recording. This was about 200. You can get the new model with 360 controlled pan. You can adjust the motion detect sensitivity for when the bushes get going on a windy day, can be a pain. Brilliant bit of kit tho. Can see battery level with a charging history trend, can see how much charge it gets each day.

Don’t make an account with Reolink, just set the app up. Reolink is Chinese company, imagine their servers are too. No chance of a warrant, if that was even a risk
