Hash friendly vape ?

It's finally time to bite the bullet and get a portable vape so where better to get advice than '420 and indeed their resident vape specialists.

 

Last time I looked was a decade ago when I bought my plug in volcano and the portable vapes seemed pretty, well dreadful in the main.Obviously things have moved on massively so what's people's go to vapes ?

 

I'm lucky enough to have access to some decent hash so it will need to be able to vape that as well as bud, and being nearer 50 than 40 understated rather than flamboyant is the order of the day.

 

Simple controls would be an added bonus, and the less parts that need to be changed regularly ( so broken by me ) would be a winner too.

 

Let me know your recommendations hive mind !

I can't speak for anything other than what I personally use, but I vape hash with some success in my Xmas V3 Pro portable. It's a great value vape, and it comes with a concentrates chamber which I guess is more designed for wax or whatever, but I've used it with my own hash and I was pleasantly surprised with the result. It takes longer to get to visible clouds of vapour, but the flavour is great from the get go and it does get there in a minute or two where you can see some nice vapour on the exhale. Once the hash is up to temp, it vapes nicely and gets the job done. There will undoubtedly be better out there, but that's just my limited experience

Not many portables can really manage hash. It also tends to clog vapes something nasty because unlike combustion it doesn't turn to dry ash, just sticky gummy mess. The tinymight 2 in beast mode will do it because it's a 70w savage.

 

You really need a lot more heat than most portables can provide. And I've tried a LOT of them with hash. Does depend a little bit on the hash being used. Best way is to top off a smallish load of flower with some and use a powerful convection vape in a bong.

I have tried some hash in my Tinymight 2 and it was pretty good but it was mixed in with buds and like FarmerPalmersNT says you do need a lot of heat. I didn't go into beast mode but I did turn it up high. It really mullers the battery when you do that too!

 

I do love the Volcano for a good hash session, not much use as a portable of course

My qaroma eats hash, but that's definitely not in any way portable. I've tried hash in a dynavap, mighty, cfx thing, tetra p80, xmax pro, healthy rips, pax 2 (I think), firewood 7 and a load of others I can't remember. All shit at it tbh. Except the tinymight. Dynavap worked but clogged like crazy and I hate the draw resistance. Rest just didn't work.

 

I just stick to my Moroccan pipe. Best thing for hash in my opinion. Called a sebsi. Plus they make you look like gandalf.

Not the most subtle piece of equipment but the old school Eagle Bill is brilliant with hash.

The above is definitely sound advice as long as you don't mind looking a bit crackheady and don't break it.

I've tried sift hash, charas and homemade bubble balls in the Crafty & Mighty with various success. Sift is better to vape but you'll be getting close to combustion temps with some vapes. 

 

Honestly the best dry herb vape is the Mighty Plus. Hash is general doesn't vape well for me compared to gentle low temp dry herb vaping. The hashes always clog my lungs up too, probably coz it's like sucking a golf ball through a garden hose getting a decent hash hit at 189C.

I have tried vaping hash in a volcano. As has been mentioned it turns to a gooey mess. 

Pollen hash is the only type of hash I had any success with.

I have not tried home made hash so cant comment on that.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, looks like there's not really a decent option for a hash vape then.

 

I've got a couple of pipes but not a really nice one ,maybe I'll treat myself to one at some point then and just get a decent portable vape for buds.

 

Love that I can get this sort of feedback after a couple of hours still, this place has still got it

You want a vape that you can turn up a little higher than you normally would for flower 

And some fibre to line the bowl so it doesn't turn into the sticky clogged messes mentioned above ^^^

Ecig unbleached Japanese vaping cotton, rayon or washed hemp fibres all work 

 

I usually use a Vapcap with just enough cotton to cover the screen

They are out of stock until next year, but if you can, grab a Thermal Accumulator by phatpiggie (he has an insta) he is a British woodworker that makes this beautiful ball and butane powered little vape, sort of like a dynavap but so much more powerful.

 

This thing eats through hash like no other vapes I have seen and I highly recommend it.

 

From my own experience hash is generally handled better in a butane-powered vape than in an electronic one.

Ive used hash in about 10 different vapes and they all work well for me . The trick is to sandwich it between some bud and bump the temps up a bit. Hash on its own id just skip the vape and smoke it through a water piece.

 

They do clog up like mad but i clean everything in ISO weekly so not really a problem for me.

 

Id recommend a dynavap for quick hits and arizer solo for slower relaxed extraction. It really comes down to personal perference though imho. You need to try a few and find your sweet spot.
