Darknight420710
Hi I've never used soil before and I've read you don't need to PH your water, yet it need to be around 5 8 to 6.5 so if tap water is 7.4 shouldn't it be getting ph- added? Any advice appreciated. Thanks Edited November 9, 2022 by Darknight420710 1201 post whoop
Boojum
Soil/compost acts as a natural buffer and neutralises the pH of the water.

This I almost purchased a pile of chemicals and truncheons and god knows what else. Fortunately, this place saved me in time

Boojum
In my (admittedly limited) experience coco gives you more control, compost gives you more room for error. You can fuck up more with compost than you can with coco, compost is more forgiving.
Herbal Kint
Just get a proper compost like Biobizz all mix @Darknight420710 @Boojum on my first coco try after 20y in compo and so far it's not hard if you already had plants it same, just need to watch them. I spent year worth of nutes already tho so definitely not cheap way to grow
catweazle1
@Herbal Kint To lessen the cost get the bulk bottles if you can stretch to them.

I know coco more forgiven but after years of mixing feeds getting anal with ph and ec I've had enough and seen plenty of good grows with soil so thought id give it a shot. Thanks for replies and concensus is don't ph
