Ned The Head
Would I have any issues with my extraction airflow if I used a reducer from 200mm to only about 100mm/50mm? There is smaller ducting of about this size all ready going out through the walls so if I could just fit a reducer from the big 200mm and not face issues that would be perfect. Chairman O The Bored
It will have an impact, but if you keep the length of the reduced ducting to a minimum, it will keep any restriction to a minimum. Think of blowing into a drinking straw... if it was short and of normal length, you could easily push air out of the end and see the bubbles in the glass, if it was a comedy straw, of normal diameter, but 5 meters long... your lungs would struggle, same for a fan. I have an 8 inch duct i have to send around the room to the nearest outdoor window which has a 5 inch hole for a dryer or something, i have a little run of 5 inch duct and a reducer, but keep almost all of the run at 8 inch to keep the fan on a low speed.
Ned The Head
@Chairman O The Bored really appreciate the help - thanks. The drinking straw analogy was just what I needed. I’m setting up the Trolmaster tonight. Exciting times. Thanks again for all the help.
