MindSoup
Hello Chums Had some Fungus Gnat issues recently, which are luckily well on the way to being resolved. As part of the process I gave one of my plants a soil drench with neem oil, and that's when the questions started popping up in my head, how does it kill? What does it kill? Is there any difference between the cake and oil in terms of effectiveness etc etc (I have a very inquisitive mind ). I know what to do with it and how and when to use it, but I'd love to swat up a bit more on the ins and outs of how and why it works, so any articles or videos you could point me in the direction of would be much appreciated. Gaijin
Perfect timing dude Coincis=entally, I had a question about neem too!! I first heard of this neem stuff in the pest control section one time, I guess. But it multitasks! It's also an organic fertiliser too, according to the blurb. So If I'm using Plant Magic Soil Supreme, lightly fertilised, plus Intense Organix range as needed ....... and mixing neem cake into the soil per instructions for a given pot - how much effect does the neem cake have? Is it good enough to grow the ladies all by itself AND fend off all-comers in the pest department? Would it cover a noticeable portion of the plant's requirements? Or is it negligible effect on the fertiliser side of things, and more of a priest control/prevent agent? Edited December 31, 2021 by Gaijin Jesus I'm sorry. PEST control, not Priest control
BilgePump
can anyone prove it doesn't control priests though?
MindSoup
@BilgePump It's toxic to children so not sure you could safely apply it to them at high enough concentration

I'm glad I read it, because I probably would've mixed it in with my compost right at the start. Looks like something to add to the fresh soil on maybe the second potting up, once they're established
Herbal Kint
That mold freaked me out tho it's nothing to worry about. I mixed it from start and didn't have problems but best try on 1 pot first if you do it from start as well.
