Is the 80A breaker your only ring main? Is there another one you can test the lamps on? 33 minutes ago, Phoenix said: inductive load That's definitely possible but even the inductive load of 3x600w lamps should be well within the capacity of an 80A breaker. It's worth trying staggering them though for sure. However if staggering them works I would suggest it means the breaker is over-sensitive and staggering them is just masking the problem.
Aurora Ruderalis
I was going to suggest checking every connection for a loose wire too @latigid aikon But felt it too obvious........ Id go through the lot with a fine toothed comb.
Barnes
Forgot to mention before the house lights were tripping out but recently the rcd trips and takes things like power to the laptop, router, tv. Anyways the good news is I've found a working ballast reflecta combo. its set to come on thru the small contactor/timer in a few hours, an hour before the other 2 to stagger the startups to see what happens today.
latigid aikon
Good luck with it, fingers crossed it all works! Keep a close eye on it though because it definitely sounds like something isn't quite right...
