onetime
Don’t ppm meters work with testing run offs with organic ferts like guano. I could see why it might not. just checking it’s not the meter. Edited February 5, 2021 by onetime
catweazle1
PPM meters work by measuring relative resistance or charge between two points. Ionic liquids from salts have an excess charge, which can carry the current emitted by one of the probes and detected by the other. The dissolved solids mass can be calculated from this. Organic liquids generally don't have any or not much free charge, so you end up with a null/near null reading. After some time decomposing you may get a reading but it's not reliable. There isn't much point doing this with organic setups. If an ionic liquid is like a metal wire, an organic liquid is like a plastic one. The other thing is with organics all the nutes in it aren't immediately available and gradually released with decomposition, so it can't give a clear picture of total nutes anyway.
