Depth of seed in rockwell cube

Hello there

Today is the day, seeds in a glass of water overnight and I'm preparing rockwell cubes etc for lift off..

My previous couple of grows were from cuttings and this is my first grow from seed

Some sources say to push the seed to the bottom of the hole in the cube and others that it should sit just below the surface..

I worry about 'just below the surface' in case the seed pops out..

Zero hour and the devil is in the detail

Please, any opinions on what's best would be great

Many thanks

YP

Seed does not need to go to the bottom of the hole. That is crazy. Stick the seed in up to a maximum depth of around 10mm.  It wants to be fairly near the top.  However, it musn't be right at the top either.  This is because as the seed germinates, it needs to drag its own shell off in the process of emerging.  It does this naturally if planted at the right depth.  If it is too near the top, it will emerge still wearing a crash helmet that can need some human assistance to remove.  If it is planted at the right depth, it should do it by itself.
