Ive got a maxiswitch 26a plug timer plugged in to a normal house multi socket plug adapter.

Ive had a power surge and its blow the fuse in the socket adapter. Damaging the plug quite badly.

What is the safest way to use something like this, To prevent some serious happing?

dont overload it. you havnt said what all was plugged into it, but i suspect it was more than the amperage could handle, hence the blown fuse/ melted plug
