seb88
Welcome to my dinafem 2020 diary Firstly, massive thanks to @Dinafem-Mark for letting me try out some new strains - Much appreciated! I'll be (attempting) to grow: Big Kush Blueberry Cookies Critical+2.0 I will be growing in Coco using airpots (1l>5l>20l) Nutrients - Canna coco full range Feeding - hand water until final pots then automated watering (top fed with watering rings) Lighting - Start seedlings off under 150W scope LED QB, then move onto 2x600w COB LEDs Tent - 2.4x1.2x2.2m greenqube For germination I dropped the seeds into Luke warm tap water with a little nitrozym mixed in. After 24 hours I give the seeds a push so they sink to the bottom for another 3 hours before going into root riot cubes. I keep them in a heated propogater with a thermostat set to 25degC in darkness. As soon as the heads pop I transplant them into 1l airpots and begin feeding at 1/4 recommended strength. Out of the 9 seeds dropped, 6 were successful, so we have: 3 big Kush 2 Critical+2.0 1 Blueberry Cookies The seeds were held up at customs for a month, so they maybe weren't in the most ideal conditions during this time. Thanks for reading, I'll update this thread weekly with progress

Exhale
A grow from @seb88 and a chance to get in at the beginning! I've been meaning to catch up on what you're doing with the COB's matey, hope you're well.
seb88
Thanks @Dinafem-Mark - can't wait to try them all, especially the blueberry cookies all the reviews I've seen rate them highly @Exhale - cheers for popping in! The COBs seem to be doing a really good job time and time again, the first is coming upto two years old now and has been faultless. Hopefully have a good few years left of happy growing before they need replacing
Shumroom
Lovely start, what happened to the 3? They all looked so uniform to begin with. Best of luck with the rest of the grow
seb88
@Shumroom of the 3 that didn't make it this far The Critical had a 5-6mm tap root when I picked the riot cube apart but looked a bit yellow. One blueberry cookie cracked and had 1mm of tap root showing, the other didn't crack at all (I tried dropping it back into water but no luck) I'm not sure if the riot cubes were too soggy, possibly drowning the seedlings? I had a high germ rate with this method originally but I've had a few failures more recently so maybe need to look at my technique... I'm planning to flower 8 plants, and have a few plants a couple of weeks ahead of these (dropped some other seeds after these were held up at customs). I'm hoping to put them all into flower at the same time so might try mainlining the other 2 so these can catch up.
Fragg
@seb88 best of luck with your grow and a nice choice of strains. Germination wise I can recommended a drop of 6% Hydrogen Peroxide in a shot glass, I get 100 % germination with it and have been popping 5+ year old beans of late without issue. I know a lot a lot of experienced growers who swear by this technique as it adds oxygen to the water whilst sterilising it at the same time to prevent any nasties forming Tapping the beans down can be fun at times as they get covered in oxygen bubbles HTH
seb88
@Fragg thanks for the tip! Is that a single drop of H2O2 in a shot glass full of water, or just H2O2? Would you leave it in there for 24h before planting in your medium?
Fragg
@seb88 yes a drop or two in the water then wait til she cracks before planting, usually within 24/36 hours

Hey man Things are going pretty well cheers, hope you are good mate It's been just over a week but thought I'd leave the update until potting up which I've just done now So here they are in their 1litres Big Kush Critical+ 2.0 Blueberry cookies They look a bit overfed so I'm going to drop the EC a little to let them recover over the next week. Roooots And here they are in their new pots (before watering). You can also see a couple of other plants I've been butchering to try slow them down and let these catch up so they can all go into flower at the same time. I'll give them a few days to settle then I'll be doing some topping and defoliation Cheers Seb Edited August 12, 2020 by seb88

seb88
Update time Since the last update I've topped all 6 girls after the 4th node, giving 8 main branches per plant. Plants are ordered... Top left/right - Big Kush Middle left - Big Kush Middle right - Critical+2.0 Bottom left - Critical+2.0 Bottom right - Blueberry Cookies Before topping After topping I then gave them 2 days to recover before defoliating. I removed the first true leaves and the other 6 main fan leaves from the main stem. Here's how they look now. My phone camera isn't particularly good and they look fairly yellow in some of these (my lights don't help either). Plants are now around 6-8" tall. They'll all be going into their final pots in the next week, then I'll give them a few days to recover/root out before flipping the lights to 12/12. Only other thing to mention is that the Blueberry Cookies is a light feeder compared to the others so I'm diluting my feed a bit to prevent overfeeding. seb88
Had my first play around with LST this week. I used some plant ties and tied branches down to the airpots, didn't snap anything A couple of days after bending. And they are now in their final 20litre pots. Tray 1 Top left/right - Big Kush Bottom left - Big Kush Bottom right - Critical+2.0 Centre - RGS Kushty Auto Tray 2 Top right - Critical+2.0 Bottom right - Blueberry Cookies Centre - RGS Kushty Auto (The other two on the left are Female seeds sexbud and RGS Kushty) I'll do some more LST in the new pots over the next couple of days, then I think I'll be ready to flip in about a week.
