Sweet Seeds - Big Devil F1 - 65W 2 Plant Micro Grow

Prophet

Recommended Posts

Hi again everybody :) I'm back again with another micro grow in the cabinet of [low wattage] dreams!

I still have some of my free beans from the sweet seeds comp last year (muchas gracias amigos!) so all i need is a little soil and some patience...

So here are my beans, i'll only need two (hopefully!):

And here's the info from the Sweet Seeds website:

I'm still using the 65w veg LED from @diyleduk

And my trusty 4" fan & Rhino Pro:

Here is the space, 4'H, 3'D, 18"W

And my beans in their pots, covered over, ready to sprout!

I had good results with this setup last year, for anybody thinking a 65w LED is going to be a waste of time :)

So there we have it. A two plant, low wattage micro grow. Perfect for my slim needs. Fingers crossed both beans sprout! I'll give weekly updates so hopefully have a few of you along for the journey :)

*** WEEK 1 ***

So after just over a week things are pretty normal. One of them popped up first and is looking healthy:

The second one was a little slower and has a pair of stunted leaves. However these are only the first pair so it'll probably grow out of it:

Apart from that, everything is groovy!

Great results from that last one.

I'll be keeping an eye on this, looks like it might be fun.

stay safe in the meantime.

*** WEEK 2 ***

Ok! And at the end of week two it's still situation normal :)

The stunted plant has made a good comeback and is growing out as normal (phew). Nothing much else really to say at this stage :)

*** WEEK 3 ***

3 weeks in and the girls are doing just fine. They've both been topped and now potted up (a little bit early) into their final pots. I've used a different compost to normal (McInnes?) that seems very sandy...

Some healthy roots on both plants:

And both in their new pots. You can see some discolouration in the older leaves as i was using 'second hand' compost from my basil plants!

And both girls back under the light:

Until next week....

*** WEEK 4 ***

And here we are at the end of week 4. Pretty much where i would expect to be, in terms of size.

Both have been topped and have now recovered so I've started LST'ing the upper fork on the bigger girl, the smaller one isn't quite tall enough yet. I've also finally got around to lining the box with aluminium faced insulation. Just need to get some neoprene for the floor:

The bigger girl:

And the smaller girl. Hopefully she'll catch up:

And both girls on their perch, along with some basil! Mmmmm pesto ....

Going to give them one more week probably, then flip them :)

*** WEEK 5 ***

Five weeks down and everything is groovy :)

Girls are coming on nicely and the smaller one is starting to catch up, although i suspect she'll always be a week behind. Either way they're both healthy and i think we'll be switching to 12/12 in the next few days :)
