Summer 2018 review

Mr blue

Recommended Posts

It's cold and wet outside, on the shortest day of the year, so it seems an appropriate time to look back on my 2018 outdoor season with Sweet Seeds.

This year I did Killer Kush fv, Blackjack fv and a favourite I do every year Green Poison fv

For the 2018 season, I planned to grow plants in my greenhouse, outdoors in the garden, and at a guerilla plot.

I don't like to start too early, so the first seeds went in to soil on 1 May

While the seeds were sprouting, it was time to do some preparation.

The greenhouse plants went in the cheap pots from the Morrisons flower section filled with my usual mix of Violet Farm farmyard mix compost, topsoil, plus a bit of fish blood and bone and a pinch of Epsom salts.

For the guerilla plot, my downfall in the past has always been lack of prep, so this year I dug holes, and added Coco and chicken shit pellets mixed up with the native soil. Did it make a difference? We'll see later!

100% germination rate, things soon looked like this

bit of stretch from starting out on a windowsill, but a bit of time in the greenhouse soon sorted that out

It seems a long time ago now, but summer 2018 was a real scorcher. Sunny day after sunny day with hardly any rain. For the first time ever I actually took water to my guerilla plot

By the end of June the plot was looking like this

The scorching weather continued, and I continued nearly killing myself lugging water to the plot

It's nice to see an outdoor grow in the contest, thanks for sharing @Mr blue. Obviously you know what happens next but I am keeping my fingers crossed hoping the bugs didn't eat too much more and the flowers kept coming - looking great so far!
