lucky dan
Hello I have grown in a polytunnel for several years, but a couple of years ago we had to stop growing for security reasons, so the ground was left to itself, and now it is just a mass of grass and weeds, how would you go about clearing this rough ground? Thanks Lucky Dan
MicroDoser
Either hire a rotavator or get out an ads and do it by hand. By hand is better because a rotavator will just chop up the weed roots and then they will grow again. When you are done, put a decent topcoat of manure (10cm+) and leaf mold then sow a cover crop like clover or mustard. That will fix the nitrogen in the soil and make it available to other plants and also inhibit weed growth. Then put all the weeds into something so they can rot down and then reintroduce the well-rotted compost to the soil later. ratdog
I would cover in cardboard as is and then mulch heavily, it will suppress the weeds and make them more manageable
