Guest b33lz33bub
Hey guys. Here's some photos of my auto white widows grown in soil the photos were taken at 9 weeks just as I started to feed with water only, then the plants taken at 10 weeks. very pleased with this run - some very big buds, lots of resin and no problems with mold this time. done in canna soil with added ecothrive charge and fed canna terra nutrients. they were started off in 3l root pouches and under 250w cfl lights for the first 3 weeks, then repotted into 12l root pouches and put under HPS for the next 7 weeks. 20 hours on 4 off. temps have been at 27oC lights on 23oC off. Guest b33lz33bub
I've been running mostly autos for the last couple of years, as they've suited my circumstances. On the whole i've been very impressed with the quality, mostly good to very good, but with a few duffers along the way. There's a bit of variation amongst the plants but no more than when I've grown from regular and feminized seed. Big down side is that you can't select the best phenos to mother and clone. Starting them off for 3 weeks under cfls then into the flower room for 7 weeks give a nice quick turnaround time. If you get the environment spot on and have no problems autos do very well, but if there's a problem earlier on they don't get a chance to recover and don't do so well. They're a bit like sprinters, any problems with the start and the race is lost. Anyway more buds Edited May 25, 2015 by b33lz33bub
Guest b33lz33bub
These were taken a week later when I cropped. They're mostly under natural light so you get a different take on them and you can see a bit what the plants look like on their own. I've done a fair amount of the DP autos now, and it looks to me that 'structurally' they all grow the same with some very short squat fast flowering phenos, through to the more stretchy slender budded phenos. With the different strains the leaf shape and bud structure is different with characteristic smells tastes and effect.. The short fast squat phenos you have to be careful of mould as the buds are so densely packed. Edited May 25, 2015 by b33lz33bub
Guest b33lz33bub
I've had quite a few problems with mould with the autos as the buds are often very squat and dense. So I've tried a few ways of flattening the canopy out so that there are more smaller buds. Topping works pretty well but it doesn't make it any easier to keep the canopy level as there's a fair bit of variation between the squat plants and the more stretchy ones. I've settled now on training over the main stem at about 4 weeks using wire, and pruning out all the downward facing shoots and any shoots that cross each other. Later into flower there's often a bit of crowding so again I prune out anything that grows on top of something else. I usually prune out any leaves that touch too as they tend to collect pools of moisture which runs down the stem into the center of the bud. Guest b33lz33bub
@@AutoMaster cheers mate, these were taken bang on 10 weeks (3 weeks under cfls + 7 under HPS) , they could have done another week and would have fattened up a bit more but I had to chop them before going away for a month trekking in India. @@BarryLunt Thanks fella, I ended up with about 1300g of fully dry and cured bud from 12 plants. Good smoke too. It weighed a fair bit less than I thought it would from the look of it, the buds just didin't weigh as much. The last autos I did were Autodurban poison, and weighed in at 1950 g from 12 plants, but looked like crap at the end as most of the leaves had died off. I pushed them with much higher EC levels than the AWW.
