LED light help

Im not a naysayer. Whenever this subject comes up I'll always say that I have nothing against the led lights themselves. Which I don't. And I'm not starting an argument over which one is better, that would be pointless as It can bounce back and forth forever. They may not get everything they need from hps, but they don't from led either. Both lights are different, both have pros and cons. My only reason for not trying led is the price of the units.

It's a cost issue, that's my only thing with led. I never once said they don't work to anybody at anytime, because I know they have potential.

I'll use them when the price for decent units are down and they are more established - ie: they are being used in legal commercial grow rooms and are recommended by well known and trusted people ect.

The only grow light we can safely say is the best is the big orange fucker in the sky!

You didn't explain very well what you meant by growing 10+ yrs and only just feel you have happy plants, that's why I said maybe it's not the lights. Like I said, i weren't trying to be a dick about it.

Fair do's

I don't want to sound like a dick either as I have only done one grow with led,I promised myself I wouldn't start raving on about them on here like I have seen others do, but it's hard not to.

By the way not to be a dick you can't comment on led untill you have used them yourself

The led above is currently what I'm using and as far as growth is concerned, it is certainly an upgrade from my old 200w dual spectrum cfl I was using, I paid £45 for it with free delivery and am now looking at upgrading to a 150w led and using the 75w for seedlings.

The 75w by hollandestar is currently growing a Dutch passion -autoflower feminised think different seed and am using 2 small 30w cfls for heat, I grow in a 60x60x140 tent using 10l airpots and only grow 1 plant at a time as its all I need to keep me self sufficient. The 75w led doesn't seem to cause any problem with cal/mag deficiency and I'm currently on week 7 of a rough 10 week cycle, will keep people updated if they are interested but currently do not have a grow diary going.

I can only add what my own fairly new and inexperienced opinion is, I currently run two units a vipar 300w and a mars ii 400w both seem excellent and although I did have a few leds go on the vipar they were more than happy to replace them in 2 days! and the plants seem happy

For top end hps, ballast and reflector you still pay way more than that.

Any way you could hint at where the mars are £140 or are they on there site n I'm just being lazy?

£95 for my lumatek ballast and sunmaster bulb. Already had a reflector but that weren't expensive. Im happy with what I paid and I'm happy with how it's performing. And it weren't more than £140 quid.

sorry to hijack the thread but im new to L.E.D and growing in general and have a couple noob questions :-)

Will an LED setup cover each stage of the plan or do you need to switch em out?

Are there recommended brands of LED or certain colour spectrum which work better than others as an all round light?
