I know nothing about cameras so is 3.2 megapixles good enough to take deacent pics of my room to upload to uk420? Its not actually a camera that I have ordered, its an HTC Touch Diamond smartphone but it has a 3.2 megapixle camera on it. Do you think that this will be ok or do you think that the HPS's will play havok with the pictures?

It's not going to be very good I'm afraid. Ideally you should take pics without your HPS on. I use a 23 watt cfl (or something maybe a bit more powerful, can't remember) to illuminate my plants when I take pictures, but also have a flash on my camera with a low powered slave flash.

What you should do is just take some pictures and see what happens.

3.2 megapixels is going to be fine for uploading a photo, likely you will need to reduce the image size so its under 450kb anyway.

I use a camera phone to take photos and the biggest difference ive made recently is lighting properly - this will give the best images possible.

Thanks guys, sounds like good advice. I didnt know about the GPS tagging thing either so i'm glad you told me about that as well. I'll wait for it to come in the post and see how it goes. Thanks again.

I've been using my phone cam 5mp and it takes is decent enough, but under a hps it gives a banding on the photos sometimes :(. When i take the out they seem to take pics fine. As said before "take geotagging off before uploading any".
