tom_servo
hi all i started growing about 4 weeks back and now have 6 plants packed into a small wadrobe (some need to be culled but i'm trying to hold off untill they show sex) under a 70 watt hps. my problem is that i obviously need more light. a look on fastlight and i thought i had found the perfect light...the econmy growlight http://www.fastlight.co.uk/GROLITE_E.htm just one problem its too wide but not by much. as this light looks very similar to the one in an article on overgrow which involved hacksawing off the ballast (which it would proberly fit then) i was wondering if anyone had one and could tell me the dimensions of the ballast part? failing that does anyone know where i can buy a 250w hps to fit in a spae of less then 2 ft wide and 1.5ft deep? or can i just rip up a cheapy hps floodlight and mount the bare bulb inside the grow room? tom_servo
thanks hemlock. i think that by shaving off the 7 inchs of ballast i could just squeeze an ip 20 into my space. hope fully this should stop the beanstalks getting any taller
hemlok
 Hiya mate, hows it all goin? here is the length of just the light canopy 16 and a half inches, i have just re-read your inital post and i have got a similaer setup to you (i think) my 'room' measures 2ftx2ftx5ft it was gonna be 4ft wide but its a long story! my light is fixed in place on the roof and my plants are in a 20x20" tray which is supported by some really cheap plastic bathroom shelving, they just happen to be 6" distance between them so when the plants grow rather than move the light i move the tray down one level ( i have no idea if this will work as its my first grow but i cant hurt to try can it?? ) i have cut vent holed in the back and lowered a fan in front of this so it can still vent but doesnt have to be in the box. anyway i hope some of this helps mate  take care and keep safe
