Themadhippy Posted February 26, 2004 Share Posted February 26, 2004 just a note to all you DIY ers in the uk that from 1st April 2004 a new colour code for fixed electrical wiring will be introduced, either the old or new colours maybe used , but not both . Installations starting after 1 st April 2006 must be wired in the new colours. The new colours (brown for live,blue for neutral ,brown grey and black for 3 phase ) are being introduced in the name of european harmony,and are infact a britsh idea. more details at http://www.iee.org/Publish/WireRegs/CableCol.pdf Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
hairy face Posted February 26, 2004 Share Posted February 26, 2004 So (unless I've mis-read it), the colours used in household cable wiring will be the same as those currently in flex wiring (brown=live, blue=neutral, yellow-green=earth.
