Howie
Anyone tried using car fans for cooling and/or extraction? they are available cheap from breakers etc and can be run off a battery charger.
MrBenn
Never heard of anyone doing it mate. I don't know much about them but suspect they would shift enough air and are probably pretty noisy
hairy face
... I don't know much about them but suspect they would shift enough air and are probably pretty noisy You can hear them above the noise of a running car engine, so yep, definitely noisy. You'd need a fair bit of room for them too, and a safety mesh or something fitted in front of them (all the ones I've seen have nothing to stop your fingers being removed if they get too close). bugerup
i have tried ford escort mk 3/4/5 heater fans . work well only real draw back is they drain a batry in no tone and using a batry charger was not enough amps to power the fan . best cheepy is go and find a balanced flu combi boiler and get the fan out of that . they are quiet and low cost running try a local plumber they have old boilers hope it helps
Howie
Working on one now its a motorbike fan smaller and quieter, trying to make a extraction system the fan is mounted to the lid of a 25ltr paint pot with most of the lid cut away leaving a 2 inch rim all round which is in turn mounted to the top of the growroom with a grill underneath then the pot with a 4 inch hole for ducting is placed on the lid to act as the housing the ducting goes into the attic where there will be a homemade inline charcol filter and exit out through the eaves it is still being made but should be in by the weekend I will take some pics when my mate comes up on sunday for our weekly photoshoot with the girls
