CO2 generators

CO2 generators come in 2 basic types

1) Bottled gas - with some kind of regulator/timer (about £300)

2) Burned fuel to make CO2 as a byproduct (about £100)

If you have friends who are mechanics, they can probably help you out with a CO2 cannister and a regulater... but you will have to manually spray it in the room

The burn fuel ones are basically those stand-alone bottled gas heaters, you just light it and leave it in your room... Bit of a fire hazard tho...

You can also ferment yeast with sugar and water, this works quite well but is messy and a bit smelly (your house will smell of cheap plonk!)

You can get a regulator called a Unis for C02 bottles, for around £150.

You can get proper environment controllers for about £300, that handle the C02 output, turn off your fans when the C02 is released, and do not release it during the dark period, as well as keeping your temp steady and running your lights.

Its usually between 10 and 20 quid for a refill of a C02 bottle, and you will prob have to put a deposit down on the bottle.

Check with your local growshop to see if they can supply and refill your bottles.

The growth gas gennys are pretty good, but the biggest problem with them is that burning gas gives off heat, and its usually hard enough to keep the temps down in your room without having a butane gas cylinder on the go as well.

Do not waste your time with the electrolytic C02 generators that you can get for ponds and fish tanks. The amount of C02 produced is so negligable as to be useless.

if you want to produce C02 yourself, cheaply, then buy a brewers bin, fill it with a strong sugar / water solution and dump a load of brewers yeast in there. It will produce c02, but the smell would make a maggot gag!
