79p starting compost

Recommended Posts

I'm a bit straped for cash and saw they were selling "sowing starting compost" for 79p a bag in wilkos, would this be okay to use to germinate my plants in? Also in BNQ they were selling a mix of ground up fish bones and fish blood which i think i heard was good for cannabis- is this true?

Thanks in advance,

P.S can anyone suggest better composts and fertilisers for the bob (i will be starting inside and finishing outside)

The bagged compost you get from wilkos is as good as anywhere else , but if you can, try to avoid their own make ( green / white bags) as these come fully loaded with fungus gnat :)

They also stock perlite, vermiculite, 5" square pots , capillary matting, polythene sheeting, weed out blankets which are huge and make good blackout curtains if folded over to several thickness and hung behind the growroom door.

And they stock a good but basic range of ferts, wire mesh for scrog, thermometers and just about every other basic you could need, and all for a lot cheaper than Growell or their rivals.

Peace

Hi,

I tend to generally use wilkos own brand " multi purpose" compost, i think it is the one in green / white bags, but havent ever had a problem with or seen any fungas gnats in it. There is probably better stuff out there, but it does work so there aint no reason to not use it.

Also there "liquid gromore" ferts are good for vegging (7-7-7 ratio) and to be honest i pulled off 4 grows using those two items and substituted the liquid gromore for miracle grow ferts during flowering ( 15-30-15 ratio, the blue crystal one ). The more you get hooked on the hobby of growing, the more time and money you'll want to probably invest in your hobby. But even with a fairly rudimentry setup you'll still be able to easily supply yourself with enough weed to not have to buy from dealers agsin.

peace
