Joolz
From: "ccguide.org.uk" <alun@ccguide.org.uk> To: endorseelist@lca-uk.org Subject: [endorseelist] Vacancies and opportunities within the LCA Date: Sun, 13 Oct 2002 06:53:07 -0700 Administrators, coordinators, designers, newsletters editor, webmaster Vacancies exist on the LCA Party Executive and for activists to become involved in many different ways how it best suits them. After the success at the last General Election and a very busy year for an ever-expanding Alliance, we have reached a stage where the Party Executive can create opportunities for more activists (endorsees) to become involved. This can be anything from on a "street level" worker, artist or designer, secretary to agent to representing your area, or even a place on the Executive yourself. At the moment there are 5 volunteers on the Executive, and our duty and honour is to administer to the needs of the Party and help support candidates in elections. Our Constitution allows up to 7 executive officers, but we all need additional volunteer officers. All of the positions require dedication, patience, skill in communicating with others on the team and workload may be just a few hours on the street handing out fliers to tens of hours per week on the Executive at election time. These are the posts: Party Treasurer: Hugh Robertson National Coordinator / Nominating Officer: Alun Buffry Press Officer: Don Barnard Technical Officer: Pete Henshall Fundraising (Promotions, Marketing) Officer: Mark Gibson Publications Officer: VACANT Party Secretary: VACANT VACANCIES: Applications are invited for the following Executive Posts 1) PUBLICATIONS OFFICER: to be responsible for finding, within and beyond the LCA, and coordinating, a team devoted to the publication of existing and new materials such as newsletters, fliers, posters, badges, website design. The successful applicant should have knowledge at least of MS Office, Word, Excel and Access. It may involve travel and at bust times would take up to 40 hours a week, although often less It is a highly responsible and rewarding position and should attract interest only from people willing to commit themselves to at least a 6 month period. Although at the moment both positions are on a voluntary basis, as the LCA grows it may become possible to create full time paid employment opportunities. WEBMASTER To oversee the design and update of the lca-uk.org web site. The LCA web site is one of the most essential assets and this post will require someone with IT skills and an innovative and imaginative approach. He or she will work under the supervision of the Publications officer, working mostly independently. When applying for this opportunity, please submit an example of the front page of a news sheet that you would produce as an example, using already existing materials and news items. ARTISTS and DESIGNERS We are looking for people to design new and updated: LCA Literature LCA posters LCA badges LCA web sites LCA Newsletters REGIONAL and CONSTITUENCY AGENTS The UK Parliamentary system divides the country into just over 600 constituencies, and the European Elections divides it into Regions. It is these divisions that the LCA will seek to use to reach a as many areas as possible and attract enough candidates (about 120) to gain us a parliamentary broadcast before the next general election (probably 2005) To ensure greatest success we are seeking Constituency Agents in as many constituencies as possible: Successful applicants will be responsible for raising funds to support a possible candidate (about £10 per week) and helping "seed" the ground through newsletters, fliers etc. A Constituency Agent may choose to apply to be a candidate, seek a candidate, or ask the LCA to find a suitable candidate. The Constituency Agent will take the LCA up to the next General Election but must not be confused with an election agent. REGIONAL AGENTS The UK is divided into 12 regions including Northern Ireland (where we are no longer registered as a party) Each region covers a number of Constituencies. The Regional Agent will be responsible for helping to find and coordinate the Constituency Agents within his or her region. They will report back to the National Coordinator or his assistant. You will coordinate up to 60 Constituency Agents, probably closer to 15. Vacancies exist in the following regions: Scotland North East East Midlands West Midlands Wales London South West South East If you are not sure which region you are in, let us know where you live. To apply for any of the above positions, please send us details of your skills and abilities, qualifications and experience, how much time you will be able to commit, and a brief resume of why you think you would be the best person for the job. With your help, we can work wonders. These opportunities ought not to be missed by people wishing a platform to express themselves within the remit of the LCA. many thanks Alun Buffry Party Coordinator
