How much are you spending?

I've started to look at having a prescription for medical cannabis but I'm not sure if I can estimate how much I'd be paying a month, I'm not sure if it's a viable option for me or not.

I suffer a lot with social anxiety and I think medical cannabis can help me as and when I need it, but this poses issues if driving and not sure if I'd tell my employers or not if I do get one. I've been battling anxiety/depression for the best part of 14 years and have become quite a recluse and I'm fed up of not going out and enjoying things because it's always there in the back of my head playing tricks on me. I don't need a lot, but even a few hits on a vape is enough for all that to go away and I think i'd only use it at weekends or when i'm going out so I may not require as much as other users.

The other part i'm unsure about is which company, there's so many to choose from and I hear good and bad points from different people so i'm trying to gather as much user feedback as possible before I decide to take the plunge or not.

Im willing to be corrected on this but I wouldn't be surprised if most script holders here just use it as a cover to carry/use their own flower, I know that's what I'll be using mine for when I get around to sorting it out.

That's true but they'd be a bit suspicious if you don't buy theirs lol I know some company's will have a review every 3 month's or every quarter of the year. I'd certainly be weary if I was driving though, I wouldn't chance drawing attention and would only try a very small dose if required, I think flower would be the best option. I certainly know I qualify because i've got that black dog depression, insomnia and IBS to through into the mix, I'm not keen being on anti depressants for the rest of my life.

None of this is a dig at you bud

Is there any studies to show medical cannabis grown by the medical guys in lab coats is better than what you can grow yourself?

The medical prescription bud is the same strains you can find anywhere, I wonder how they pheno hunt?

Irradiated after harvest to prevent rot?

As for the roz, no one will let you continue with your journey in a vehicle due to producing a medical cannabis card.

Doubt it's happened on here for anyone. 'On you go lad, phew we thought you were a stoner but it's for your XYZ'

I have had a prescription for a couple of years, it's been great. I am just about feeling up to growing again and that's also great. I hardly leave the house so no copper has ever asked to see my prescription. I doubt any body noticed me vaping on my TM2 that time I went to an all day event.

Actually, come to think of it, I've never had a run in with the law over weed...

Damn right I'll be using my medical defence if I ever do though!

Ask me anything bud (DM is fine), I keep my finger on the CBPM world. As for best clinic, it depends... It's still worth checking out T21 and if you have disability benefits, there's a few access schemes. If you're loaded then it won't matter but I want bang for buck.

If you prefer to do your own digging, check out medbud.wiki and /r/medicalcannabisuk

P.S. I am spending £300 on 60g per month + £70 every 3 months + £30 repeat fee every month. But am about to switch clinic....

this poses issues if driving

I just did a bit of googling and found the following:

A report written for the government suggests that medical cannabis remains active in your system for 4 hours and patients should not drive during that period. It also states that as with all medication, the patient should not drive if they feel they are unfit due to their condition or their medication regardless of time frame.

A specialist cannabis law firm's website syas that the legal THC limit for driving is 2 micrograms per litre of blood and there is actually no limit for cannabis itself. A police drugs wipe tests for the presence of cannabis but is not admissible evidence (presumably as it's only showing the presence of cannabis and not THC) however the assumption is that if you have a detectable amount of cannabis in your system you will fail a blood test for THC.

I think this essentially means that as a prescription holder, if you're stopped by the police for something non drugs related and they do a drugs wipe just because they can, you will likely fail and will probably be arrested but it's unlikely they would try to prosecute you for being unfit through cannabis.

Hello @mystic_roots hope your well, sorry to hear of your troubles. I have similar issues and wonder how much the weed actually helps or wether it actually is part of the problem.

Probably not the answer you were looking for but been pondering over this question a lot recently

Good luck finding something that works for you

I wondered about that too in the past.. that maybe choosing to be a stoner was actually the reason I seemed to be such a wonky human. Berated myself about it quite a lot on my 30s. It turned out I was bipolar. I'd likely been managing to muddle through life with a little soothing from Mary Jane to even me out. For decades. The point is, it wasn't the weed.

@iShouldCoCo 2nd this. My "quirks" predate my weed use by a long time, not to say that's the same for everyone though, my cousin was massively triggered by smoking weed and it definitely doesn't help.

Very true. I am definitely not one of those people that thinks cannabis is the only medication anyone will ever need for any ailment. Some people really are better off without it in their lives, I'm glad I'm not one of those people!

  • 4 weeks later...

Little late for my reply, I hadn't realized lol

My problems pre date that of smoking cannabis by about 12 years or so. Drugs from the Dr does help me manage it, or keep it at bay but I still get social anxiety to the point I've become somewhat of a recluse from social activities. This then has a knock on effect with relationships and just in general living and enjoying life.
