Cryptomining For Fun

Barnes

Recommended Posts

I'm one of those who messed around downloading bitcoin back in the day but gave up after a couple of weeks cos it didnt seem worth it. (epic)

I just wondered if its still possible to make a little bit of a profit without a dedicated gaming rig? And if so what would people recommend just to get going for a bit of fun?

I think i remember someone saying not to use laptops cos the hashing fries them? Any advice thanks

At this point in time there is very little point of mining; the average even by last year was $8 a day for a $12k machine running a constant 3500watts of power

Aww @KingAether i suspected as much and was dreading someone would say that. I see companies offering the Cloud Mining where you rent one of their hi spec rigs. Must confess to wondering if i had a mining farm what incentive there would be in renting it out to other people rather than just keeping all the profit myself and wondered if its a bit fishy?

The main issue is that GPUs have been totally unaffordable for the last year, cards that should cost £750 are going for closer to £2000.
