Travelling with canna caps

I wasn't sure where to put this but I think this is fundamentally a medical issue, but feel free to move it if necessary.

 

I wonder if anyone here has any experience of travelling with canna caps?

 

I am going to be going away shortly and I was considering making up some capsules and taking them with me as part of my pillbox. My current thought is to use some dry trim I have saved and water cure it to remove the terps, then go through my normal edible extraction process using cocoa butter (I wanted a fat that would be solid at room temp, this is in the belief that a solid would be a smaller surface area and therefore generate less smell?).

 

I could then fill up my caps and if necessary let the fat solidify and then seal with a drop of beeswax before closing up the capsules.

 

As I said I would put these into my pillbox and this is filled with a considerable amount of opioids and muscle relaxants that I have prescriptions for, do you think it would be noticed?

 

Feel free to tell me I am being stupid if you think so, but it would be good to have a reliable source of medicine, rather than having to rely on street purchases when I am there. It would also mean I didn't need to take my vape with me.

I was going to be flying so would have to get through airport security. I am only going to Europe though so not a full customs check...... I'm not sure on this and I don't know how things have changed since Brexit.

Can’t you just make some bum hash.
 

I’ve had to mould an eighth of squidgy to get it through to Spain before it was legal there.

 

Not that it’s an experience I want to repeat, but I have to say, id be happier doing it now I make my own hash as it’s considerably softer than the stuff I took.

I decided to try and make up some caps that, I believe, should be able to get past security. I wasn't going to post this originally but after thinking about this yesterday I thought it would be best to post what I do for the future.

 

 

The first step is to water cure some weed in the above container I have 32g of dry trim wrapped in a single layer of muslin and around 10L of RO/DI water. I put a meat hammer in there to keep the trim submerged. I am using RO/DI water as it will speed up the process slightly. For the first 72 hours, I will change the water every 12 hours, after this, I will change the water every 24 hours. I aim to keep doing this for around a week. I am posting this in semi real-time so I will keep this updated as I go along.

I finally finished my water cure yesterday

 

 

when I checked yesterday morning the water was looking spotless still. I let the bag hang above the container to drip dry for a few hours yesterday afternoon and then once it had stopped dripping I transferred it to some baking parchment and placed it on heat matt to dry overnight. This is what the trim looked like this morning after it had finished drying.

 

 

It is not looking the best, I will admit, but most importantly, when I was drying this on the heat matt last night I did not smell anything at all. If you zoom in you can still see trichs on the trim

 

 

but there has been some loss of trichs in the soaking, I have tried to collect these and will use them in an Etoh extraction I am going to be running later to make canna ejuice.

 

I weighed the trim after the water cure and drying and the final weight was 21g.

 

 

This was split in half and added to a vacuum seal bag with 75g cocoa butter and 2 tsp sunflower lecithin and then vacuum sealed.

 

 

These were dropped into my crockpot at 14:30 this afternoon and will be allowed to slowly combine and extract over the next 16 hours or so. The reason I am extracting for so long is that I am combining the extraction and decarb into a single step. In hindsight, this has proved to be a bad idea, the release of CO2 during decarb has destroyed the vacuum and caused the bag to float, but I have put a weight to keep it submerged and will keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't pop. If other people try and follow this in the future I suggest you decarb your cannabis before trying to extract it.

 

I will again once I have finished making the capsules.

On the plus side, I took a teaspoon of the butter when I was emptying it from the bag and now things are swayee/ swayie ??? Feck I'm mashed! let's try that again............ I took a teaspoon of butter and now everything is swaying (nailed it )

That's some seriously hi tech shit you got going, I used to just put buds/hash in a tin or something and wrap it in duct tape and wipe down with iso, one trip back from the dam I literally just put a baggy in each pocket of all the pairs of trousers in my hand luggage, had about 5g or so went through the scanner fine . I dare say your methods will be adequate.

If its only Leeds you should of posted some ahead of schedule to be waiting for you.

 

If it was me I would just make sure that I wiped everything down afterwards to remove any traces of weed as its a royal pain in the but when they swab your bag at the airport and it comes up positive for traces.

Airport security swabs test for nitrates and glycerin afaik.

 

A Spanial or Labrador’s nose however will detect cannabis effectively IF they are a trained drug dog. Majority of airport dogs in UK are explo trained. It is rare for a dog to be specialist trained in both, again afaik. There are no choices once you are in the airport security check areas as to which dog gets to sniff around. It is based on pure luck. Be careful. Maybe once in capsule they are far less detectable by sniffer dog. Who knows?
