Basically, I am writing to invite you to come along to a special edition of the show on the issue of reform of our drugs laws. Jonathan Dimbleby, the most-watched politics and current affairs interview programme on British television, is usually broadcast live every Sunday from our London studios. However, on May 18 we plan to go to Amsterdam for this special programme, which will also coincide with the expected reclassification of cannabis in the UK. We are hoping to use the Netherlands as an appropriate backdrop which will also take in the Dutch experience and what Britain can learn from it. Should we follow in their footsteps and abandon our prohibitionist tendencies? Or are the Dutch too liberal and has their society suffered as a result? The programme would be a panel discussion involving our presenter, Jonathan Dimbleby, and high-profile guests from both the Netherlands and the UK. We are also planning to have a studio audience of around 40 people and that is why I am contacting you. I am looking for Dutch people who speak good English to come along and be part of the audience and express their views during the debate. I hear that the 22nd is the date for the publication of the latest report to the HS, with reclassification expected either the same day or within a week or so.
