Slippy One
Hi all, just a quick one to remind everyone how quick, easy and non messy a sift run can be. I bought these screens for about £30 each delivered. Can't remember the weird size they were but is equivalent to roughly 1x 160 micron and 1x 45 micron fo the final clean. I use this stuff for vaping and making oil capsules. Concentrates mean I can produce meds with consistent potency each batch, and make edibles that don't have any weed taste. Whole process took 30 mins. The flower should be crispy dry before you start. Left out for 48hrs in the heatwave to crisp up, or low oven for an hour. Crispy is best Wax on, wax off Top screen carefully removed Gentle rub with the final screen Always clean the glass before starting, and you should end up with golden sift to enjoy! Ready for consumption straight away. Always clean the screens well afterwards, and wrap in cling film or plastic bag to keep them dust free for next time in the cupboard.
BudJ
Nice tips. Does this mean the leftover flower is not worth smoking or is it still good?
Slippy One
@BudJ I wouldn’t combust it but the leftovers are perfect for cooking or making oil. If you must smoke something, smoke the sift! You’ll be nicely toasted with less poisonous gas inhaled.

Useful info. Cheers
Military Grade
Great piece fella. Last year i got some similar screens from amazon, but with wood frames, cheap and defo worth doing, was the best bit of hash i've ever had and was made out of trim that would have ended up in the bin otherwise.

I highly recommend these aluminium ones for how well the mesh is tensioned and bonded to the material with red wax glue. Not expensive compared to the overpriced ‘weed specialists’ variety, and most screen printers have plenty of sizes with next day delivery.

Yeah forget paying out big money on one of them Trim Bins that only come with one micron size
Slippy One
Trimbins are great for trimming and little post-trim bonus for the after trim bowl, but there’s no tension in the screen, not so great for yield. Printing screens are cheaper by far..

Slippy One
Yep, aluminium screens for the win. I bought sizes 23" X 31" size 15T/W, plus a 23" X 31" 43T/W. Micron sizing is replaced by threads per inch, so 43T is 43 threads per inch. There's a conversion chart on these boards if you search. The company I used was called Screen Ink & Solvent Supplies Ltd. £29 each with a few bob delivery. Edited June 22, 2020 by Slippy One
Arthur Mix
Screenstretch in Manchester seem to be the cheapest for larger screens. @lildaveham also used them irc
Slippy One
Wherever you pick up the screens, still cheaper than bubblebags, and less effort. I didn't mention the glass table top from Ikea, that was £60 slides and bloody heavy, but essential for this purpose. You could get away with a wooden top, but it would have to be shiny and easy to clean. Cheapest would be a sheet of thick perspex marginally bigger than the screen sizes. Not knocking bubblehash, just the effort and costs in making bubble.

I have loads of old flower I could use this up on and get some nice hash I think
GSZZ
On 07/06/2020 at 11:36 AM, Slippy One said: Wax on, wax off Great result mate Try gently breaking the buds into little bits one at a time over the screen, dropping the bits onto the screen as you go. Once you've worked through your pile, scrape it to the corner and move to the next screen, give it about 4 flicks with your finger and then remove the second screen and collect. Gently does it through the whole process, take your time. The stuff that falls through from this initial gentle breakup and movement is probably the best albeit the lowest yield, pure gold and generally full melt, then do your usual wax on wax off with the bits you've broken up a bit rougher this time to get the bulk off. Dry sift works best for the tastiest rosin too !
