bongme
Hi This is South London News Friday 31st Oct 2003 THE owner of the Green Leaf cafe in Brixton made hundreds of thousands of pounds selling cannabis from a back room, a jury heard on Wednesday. Errol Anderson, 47, sold West Indian food at the Landor Road cafe, but in a police raid more than two kilograms of cannabis was found in "deal bags", Inner London Crown Court was told. Up to £340,000 was paid into an account held by Anderson and his wife, while cash was also invested in properties, said Brian Lett, prosecuting. He said: "We suggest that his drug dealing generated very substantial cash profits. "It is always one matter to commit a crime. There is a further stage, which is how one comes to eventually use the profits without suspicion." This was where Anderson's wife, 49-year-old Audriana Witter, and estate agent Gassell Gordon, 55, are said to have become involved. Mrs Witter drew an annual salary of about £16,000 while Mr Anderson earned between £10,000 and £15,000, the jury heard. But between May 2000 and January this year, £340,000 was paid into an Abbey National bank account shared by the pair. Properties were then purchased in Mrs Witter's name through Mr Gordon, the jury heard. Mr Anderson was first arrested in April 2002, when police found the two kilograms of cannabis. He was released on bail but arrested again in January. Mr Anderson and Mrs Witter, both of Ribblesdale Road, Streatham, and Mr Gordon, of Canonbury Road, Forest Hill, deny one count of conspiring to contravene the Drug Trafficking Act. Mrs Witter also denies eight counts of concealing and transferring the proceeds of drug trafficking. Mr Anderson further denies 10 counts of concealing or transferring the proceeds of drug trafficking, three counts of possessing a Class B drug with intent and one count of permitting premises to be used for the supply of a Class B drug. The trial continues. Bongme
