COUGHCOUGH Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I'm currently on a 18/6 veg with lights on between 6am - Midnight. At night the temps are currently at around 21c. I'm growing in a tent in a block of flats. No central heating except the heat from upstairs and downstairs! I'm about to change to a 12/12 at the end of the week. I'm a bit worried that temps are going to be too cold during the night by the time they are ready to harvest. Therefore I want to swap from a 6am-Midnight schedule to a 6pm-6am. Is this alright to do or will it confuse my plants since I currently have no lights on between midnight at 6am? I also currently mist my plants just after lights out every night. My humidity levels are around 65% constantly. I understand I should try and reduce this as much as possible during flowering to reduce the risk of pests/fungi. With my lights going off at 6am, I won't be awake to mist them. Is this ok?? I suppose the lack of misting will help get the humidity level down but I don't want my plants to suffer because of it. Thanks for any pointers!

Thanks for any pointers! no problem switching light cycle - the ladies will be fine .... .....just stop misting - no need for it on a regular basis - many growers don't do it at all - except possibly for pest treatment such as spider mite or thrips. Not sure what grandad is on about as you never mention what your light wattage was .... Laz Agreed. Don't worry about upgrading fooking lights and shit just yet FFS!
Owderb Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 up the light wattage And how does that help lights off temps Owd
Guest grandad Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 appologies, i'm in the middle of changing from 6pm till 6am, to 10am 10pm i'm suffering heat is what i misread. i noticed day and night temps are the same in the summer, and in the winter it appears to be cloud cover dictates the temps so it can be colder in the day than it is at night, my reason for changing is the ability to leave door open. i have to change both veg and flower lights from summer to winter without much choice.

COUGHCOUGH Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Thanks for all the advice. Will stop the misting and change to 6am-6pm. Does it matter how I switch. i.e do I just leave the lights on from 6am one day to 6am the next or shall I turn them off at midnight as usual and leave them in dark until 6pm the next day? I'm using a 400w hps in an 80x80x160 tent so my light is already more than I need. Temps are perfect at 25.5 lights on and 21c lights off. If my humidity does end up the same 65% whilst flowering, will this be a big problem. Apart from raising the lights on temp a bit, there's not much more I can do except stop misting!

Does anyone know this? I don't want to fuck up the change in photoperiod. Is it better for my plants to have 24 hrs of constant light or 18 hrs of constant darkness when making the switch??
Guest Lazlo Woodbine Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Does anyone know this? I don't want to fuck up the change in photoperiod. You won't. Do whatever suits.... the plants will be fine. Laz
COUGHCOUGH Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 Thanks! Just have to worry about the humity levels now and fingers crossed everything will be good! B)
Guest grandad Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 if i'm veging i change lights on and off times at will, but with flowering times i only knock it back 15mins each day and some days i leave it, i started a couple of weeks ago, i've gone from lights on 6pm back to 1.30pm at the moment. it might not be needed doing it this slow, i'm trying make sure my plants dont hermie.
Owderb Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 If in veg keep them in the light to switch, if in flower keep them in the dark to switch Owd
Guest grandad Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 i turn on at needed time the timer turns off and they always have 12 hours of light 11 3/4 dark, i'm not sure how long off the clocks going back, but that will get me where i want to be.
