Anyone else making any?

We've ordered a new press that has both the bottle jack function, with a digital measured temp of the plates.

This thread will take a while to form as I make various things and post them up but I'll keep putting the various methods and techniques in here so that they are all in one place. I'll mainly focus on the hashes, oils and jellies that I make and cure, but I'll also be including all the imports I come across as a comparison to show that YOU can make better products than even the most seasoned regional producer. B) Forget Afghani and Leb from the 70's, UK420 is where the best hash ever produced can be found.

Ever wondered how a certain hash or oil is made? Pose the question in this thread and when I have the trim I'll make it and show you how it's done and with my own tried and tested techniques. Feel free to add any additions or changes you would make, that's the idea. With a bit of luck we could come up with some great new ideas between us.

I thought that I would start this thread for two reasons. Firstly to show, with pictures, the coffee pot method of making BHO; and secondly to show that there is still oil to be had from trim/bud that has had all of it's capitate resin heads bubbled off.

First up, here's a picture of the trim/bud I will be using. It has already been bubbled once and at the time of this picture was on the window cill drying out again. As you can see, there are no resin heads left on the stalks.

I've done a bit of reading but hopefully someone can answer dome specific questions..

Basically i want to keep it simple and produce something akin to 'normal' hash - I've experimented with QWISO before but I just find it too sticky to handle and I found dabbing a bit of a faf too... so something thats not too messy to deal with at room temperature, that can be sprinkled?

So 2 questions with that in mind -

The zip up washing machine bag is the same micron holes (220) as the 'top' bucket/filter bag - so I can just leave out the that one? Could I even just use the very smallest micron bag to capture 'everything' to get 'grade' - I was thinking this might make the final product easier to handle?

As for drying it I'm a bit confused..could I just sandwich/hand press it between some kind of cloth screen (if so what sort) and some parchment paper, to press most of the water out and then just let it air dry and and thten roll it into a ball or whatever?

I've been making QWISO to decarb and then dissolve in oil/ethanol for edibles/tinctures for years. This gives me pretty consistent repeatable strengths per ml of finished product.

The issue I'm having is after evaporating the alcohol in a big pryex dish, it's a right pain to scrape out. I store the dish ready for the next batch, so don't need to worry about getting every last scrap out.

Usually it's slightly soft/tacky and relatively easy to scrape up with a razor blade, but sometimes, like today, it's really hard/crystalline and pings everywhere, meaning I inevitably lose some to the floor!

Any tips to make my life easier please?

Pic of 6.9g QWISO from a load of mixed trim, rolled into a ball and ready to be decarbed in an oil bath/ban marie should last a few weeks!

Ive been experimenting with making different concentrates and oils and it is now time to try making a tincture so my questions are this - what is the best alternative to use instead of everclear? as every recipe I read seems to include this and I cannot find it in the UK. 
 

Also what method should I use to make the most potent tincture possible? (I’ve seen long steep method and qwet but not sure which one to go with.) I suffer from quite deep depression and find the stronger the tincture I’ve tried in the past, the more relief I get.

for example, last night I made a tincture with 500ml of alcohol and 50g of kief on an 8 hour cycle and was considering running it on another 8 hour cycle tonight (16 hours total) would this potentially make it stronger or maybe even ruin it?

Ive heard great things about the magical butter machine so decided to take the jump and buy one which arrived today. 
 

When i opened it I noticed that the minimum you can do is around 500ml, is there a hack so I could do smaller amounts, say 200ml? Does anyone have any experience with doing something like this?
 

I was thinking of maybe putting a small heavy object in the bottom of the kettle that’s small enough to not touch the stirrer but not sure if that would be safe.

I’m going to make a batch of infused mct oil using kief but can you over do the amount of canna in the oil?
 

I was thinking of using 25 grams of Kief in 250ml of oil but I have heard that the oil can only absorb so much and then any additional weed-Kief is a waste, is that true? Also is the double boiler at 180f for 4 hours the best method to use.

Getting back into the old school stuff. Got some Beldia, Ketama and King Hassan.

Beldia and Ketama are very similar, Good daytime smokes.

Beldia a bit stronger. Ketama is sweeter and more mellow.

Hassan is bedtime material.

Looking to try some more so suggestions would be great!

So I want to pick the brains of you lovely lot as I'm in need of some ideas of how to process a load of flower that I have in my stores.

I've been non combustion for almost 2 years now so I'm really not getting through it like I used to when I was on the bangers.

These days I mostly just make infused coconut oil and just eat that out the jar or for something a bit more right now I've got the TM2 but I'm kinda on and off with the vape really..

So I really want to make some extract with like a KG or more but I'm not sure what would be the best method..I don't want to sift it or make bubble because it's not really consumable for me anymore, I do mix a bit in the vape and have decarbed some to eat but it's a real faff and would take a long time with a large amount.

Also I want something that's got a long shelf life that stores easy too..I don't keep stuff at home so stores is an old concrete lockup, its cool dark and dry.

Have you guys got any ideas for me??

Thinking maybe a solvent extraction would be the easiest, although the cost would be quite high without the right kit to retain the solvent/alcohol being used.

RSO apparently stores for up to 10 years but does lose potency over time however it's a lot to make and doing stuff at home isn't something I like to do.

I've had a lot of this weed for 2/3 years now and while it's stored really well it is starting to degrade a fair bit now..still works a treat and tastes great just looks a bit ropey. I don't want it to go to waste so what would you do with it?

So I’ve taken up vaping the last couple of years but i’m a little worried about continuing to buy the vape pens from the street as they are likely full of crap so have decided to make my own thc vape juice out of the kief I have collected over time. 
 

I’ve followed the method that is suggested on several sites on line (5g kief into 40 mg mix of vg/pg, heat at a specific temperature for 2-4 hours in double boiler then coffee filter etc) but it’s as weak as dog toffee! I’ve experimented with different times, different vg/pg ratios and even used double then three times the amount of kief but it’s still extremely weak in comparison to the ones I’ve bought off dealers or the ones I’ve tried from dispensaries when visiting the USA. 
 

Can you guys see what I’m doing wrong? Does anyone have a recipe or technique making vape juice out of kief that has been nice and strong?

I had 2 big plants that died 2 or 3 weeks before finishing off so am looking to rescue something from tghem by making bubble hash with them. They were pretty crystalled up so hoping to get some decent smoke from them. 

I've watched a few videos and read a bit about it so going to order some bubble bags and bucket. The plants are still in the tents and are bone dry and untrimmed. Will I need to trim them and rehydrate or can I just freeze it put all the vegetation in with the ice and cold water and blend and strain? Be much easier to just put them in the bags as they are but will do whateever will give the best results. I've read that some ppl do the process more than once (keep the plant matter and put it back in the first bag and strain it all the way through the other bags again). Does anyone here do that? Only other thing I've found that ppl were contradicting themselves on was how aggrerssively to mix the frozen plant matter, ice and cold water. Someone was blitzing it really quickly with a drill and a mixing bit and another said this was no good and a slower more methodical mixing was better for the final product.

Any help is greatly appreciated and iff anyone has a good place/brand of bubble bags and equipment for this that'd mint

right ive got a bit of a conundrum, ive got too much dried bud..... a good position to be in i suppose..... but anyway.

since i started vaping im using next to nothing, but my  stash will be getting old and if im honest i could do with some variety. there is no way ill get through about a 1/4 of it before it turns to crap.

now my stash is vac packed but some of it is over a couple of years old, and it takes up quite a bit of room. 

im looking to reduce the size of stash, and id like to convert most of it into oil ( i guess), that will last the longest eh? 

so methods of extraction, what is the quickest/easiest option.

i dont really want to have to decarb it in my house and have it stinking out, so whats the verdict,

was thinking maybe just to qwiso it or is there an easier option? saw one yootoob vid of a bloke using a water distiller with iso, and he was reclaiming about 70% of it, but i dont know how bad it will stink the house out. 

im all ears, any links for instructional videos appreciated

In my opinion this hash is not of good quality.

I guess I will remove next time and mox with some ethanol extraction

I've done it many times before but this time it went drastically wrong.

The finished product went green and refused to solidify when cold.

After much soul searching and hunting around the net I think I've

finally figured it out...

The weed was not dried properly before infusion and this led to the

retention of moisture causing the oil to go mouldy...

...I've had to bin the whole lot...what a fecking waste, two litres of oil

and around 6oz bud and trim...very pissed off...

I've been doing an alcohol extraction and am planning to boil it down on my primitive hotplate.  I'm not into a hotplate with stirrer at the moment as I am temporarily without income

I have enough to buy something to use on my single hob electric hotplate, and I was thinking about something like a 12cm deep-sided borosilicate petri dish or something that allows for fairly rapid evaporation, but also allows me to scrape it up to put into a container, a needleless syringe, or whatever.

1) Would you buy one of those or something different?

2) What do you use as a scraper?
 

Many thanks and sorry if I missed a post about this exact topic, the solutions I found here were a little more expensive and higher tech.

I had some flower I didn't enjoy much, so I soaked it in alcohol for 2 days and then boiled off the alcohol in silicone within a bain-marie as suggested by the excellent folks here.

I didn't have a silicone dish, so I used 4 silicone egg poaching cups. Now they each have a disc of good at the bottom of them.

What is the best way to get that goo out of the silicone and into the syringe?  Or if for some weird reason, the syringe is not a good idea, to scrape it into a pot.

Then would you only eat it or vape/smoke it as desired, too? I've heard it tastes terrible.  It smells amazing, though.  It's really highlighting the rose terps of the herb it came from.

I've stuck the silicone cups into the freezer as I think I remember someone saying that it was easier to retrieve if frozen - maybe they said refrigerated, I better check.

I tried sun drying and it wasnt bad but would like to do it faster,does oven kill flave?

I’ve made some Qwiso with the intention of mixing a gram with two ml of wax liquidiser and then vaping it, should I decarb the weed before making the Qwiso? Should I decarb it once its made or should I just not decarb it at all?

So for the last few months I’ve been trying a few methods of ingesting my favourite plant without combusting huge amounts of plant matter, so I’ve now decided to give BHO a pop. 
 

What is the best method for making it? And what equipment will I need? I don’t have a lot of money to put into it so preferably a budget version but most importantly, will I need a vacuum to purge it? or is there another method that’s just as safe without risking inhaling any nasties? any help would be greatly appreciated.
