..and possibly other sizes too.

Just a heads up if anyone is thinking of any significant investment in GroveBags.

The latest batch (2024) of GroveBags in the UK, the zipper seals are failing after a few openings making them useless for odour and curing. They're aware of the issues, but so far (3 months) they've failed to refund or replace them after my replacements failed faster than the ones originally bought . The male part of the seal gets stuck in the female groove, ripping it off its base detaching it from its side.

I would normally write this off as a junk product but for the price they should last more than a few openings, and my 2020 1/lb windowed bags are still going strong just looking a bit crumpled but perfectly sealed...

I've got a small plant I should be chopping in about 4/5 weeks, shortly after that I have a house inspection and I won't be able to get it into jars in time.

My first thought was to just bag the plant up in one of those vacuum storage bags and chuck it in the loft/shed for the day, but I'm a tiny bit worried about increasing the chance of mould or something weird happening.

I guess I could stick that bag in the fridge, cooler temps should reduce the chance or rot right? Maybe chuck some silica gel in with it?

What do you lot reckon? Got any other ideas? From the looks of things right now she's going to absolutely stink .

Hi all. Its almost time. Just wondering what people are using for a trimming tray to catch keif? I don't particularly fancy spending £50 on the trim bin. The pic is from a few weeks back. It takes me too long to figure out how to upload pictures.

Bud Trimmers.... (again I am sure)

	Hi all,

I am sure this has been asked a thousand times but various searches havent yielded the results I wanted....

Really got sick of trimming after my last grow, osteoarthritis in most of my joints especially in my hands means that every hour on the wet trimming means I have to smoke at least two spliffs to combat the pain and I am sure you can imagine what those buds start to look like after 3 or 4 hours work..... Usual yield is around 40oz so it takes a good few hours!!

Hoping for a bit more on my current grow and have decided to bite the bullet and get a motorised trimmer to help out the hands and of course the patience!

Good deal on this at the moment

Trimzilla Warrior Cut Leaf 18" Automatic Power Trimmer at 250.00 at a well known grow shop.

Wondered what everyone's thoughts on this sort of set up and is it worth going this route or does someone have a decent alternative that doesnt involve sticking dry buds into a "Sports Holdall" and smashing the shit out of them..... You know the product I mean!

Any pitfalls I should be aware of when drying etc as I usually trim on the stem and then hang, using the electric means I will just have buds which will need a net of some sort I am guessing

Or is there an alternative to the sports holdall approach that is gentler and doesnt knock half the Triches off as it does its thing?

	Questions, questions, questions....

	TIA for any comments

And into the sweat they went. I am using a seed mat to get the temp up with it wrapped around the cobs and a blanket - going to keep a very close eye on it as could be a bit of a fire risk. Temps already at over 40C.

Disclaimer - I take no responsibility for you copying this, especially the dodgy bits.....

As per another topic, I was looking at the 'cannatrol' unit online. As far as I can tell it's a thermoelectric cooler (a peltier cooler based fridge) on a dew point controller. I figured I could have a pop at making one. I could have missed something fundamental about the cannatrol, but I don't believe so. So the same thing, if not better could be achieved with a wine cooler and humidity control, provided both temp and RH can be controlled, it's the same as regulating dew point. These boxes have so much potential as you can exactly control the temp and RH for different phases of drying and curing. The box is completely sealed so no air exchange or moisture exchange. Terp retention is immediately obvious. Difference is genuinely huge if, like me your drying game was the weakest link. I've been monitoring with a Bluetooth rh/temp sensor and it's been very precisely controllable.

I am still fine tuning but so far this works from fresh chopped:

	- 3 days at 45% 17c

	- 3 days at 50% 16c

	- 3 days until as long as you like at 60% 16c

Rh set on the inkbird, temp on the cooler.

Theoretically you can just leave them in there indefinitely at that point, or jar them up. I notice the cannatrol has a sponge in a dish for humidification. So far that hasn't seemed necessary. If anyone knows something about the cannatrol I've missed, feel free to let me know! I can't see exactly how they route the supplementary dehumidifier but assume it's partially external. Maybe they don't have one and rely on the dehumidification provided by the peltier cooler... although that'd be naff.

There's only really room for about a bar or so, I may buy another. These aren't really upscalable. So I'm using it for my choice persy selection.

My unit is a cookology one that's £169. Dehumidifier was 30. Inkbird maybe 30 or so. A lot cheaper than a cannatrol. Excuse the shite everywhere.

These work differently to a compressor fridge which would be no use. They don't strip moisture from the air as much as compressor fridges and also cool down to 10 ish c below ambient only, generally down to about 12c lowest. The benefit of these is that they are a sealed box. I added a very small dehumidifier (also thermoelectric) with a drain hose. These generate a small amount of heat and it's a small space, so no point having a powerful one.

I cut a hole in the back. This comes with a serious health warning. They fill these with foam containing pentane so it's flammable. Im drilling through a metal case into that foam so it's probably a bad idea. Take no responsibility for you doing it. I took out the plastic and a core of foam first. Sprayed down and cut slowly. Then threaded through the power lead for the dehumidifier. Then the inkbird RH sensor (this is used to control the dehumidifier).

Mounted the sensor inside. I also removed some of the rear housing to allow better exchange on the rear heatsink, again at risk - this exposes the PCB to a greater extent.

Next step I unclip the temp sensor from the fan housing and move it out into the cooler. This gives a more accurate ambient reading. You don't need to unscrew the housing like I have here, it's the blue wire, you can unclip the little bead sensor at the front of the casing and bend it straight.

Cables are routed round, shelves cut to accommodate and support dehumidifier, holes filled and totally sealed with foil tape and silicone.

Mount the humidity controller screen to the outside, plug socket for the inkbird with the dehumidifier plugged into it.

Unscrew and remove the drain tray from underneath

....and a hose can be attached from dehumidifier to drain, then another section added underneath. Hose can then drip into a bucket under a shelf. You can't run it straight through as the drain bends inside the casing.

With this setup no excess moisture should gather on the bottom from the cooler as the dehumidifier mops it all up. There aren't many dehumidifiers that are this small with drain hoses, but I found mine on that site of bezos'.

I was reading an article that in America it has become popular to freeze your nugs straight after harvest, no curing, no drying. They reckon it gives you a better edible product making it straight from fresh buds, as well as saving time and money drying and curing. Anyone done this?

In case you hadn't seen it, Americans now have access to a new curing device at the princely sum of $999. Our curing fridge hack is still about 3 times cheaper, but for those who don't want the hassle, there's a new kid in town. There IS a 220V/240V version available too, so no power convertor required! Full details are available on the Vivosun website.

They are saying it is 90L and capable of handling over a KG of wet herb 2.5Lb
So today was the day to cut my plants. I’ve got some drying in a box in the garage with a little 4 inch fan located near it to create some airflow. My question is a majority of it is hanging up in the attic. I’m slightly worried about mould. I’m guessing there must be a slight breeze up there as I’ve been storing a pram and cot up there with the material/cloth uncovered. My thinking is if it was stagnant air then mould would have already grown on these two things that have literally been up there for years! What do you guys reckon?

A question......which in short is.....do the chemical processes that cure cannabis need air and a certain temp? Or the longer version.........

So last harvest, dried for about a week at 60/60, then into jars, regularly opened until RH stabilised at 62 ish.

I tend to only grow every 2 years, so the harvest has to last, in the past its been in jars in an old, not plugged in fridge, and it keeps ok, but by the end of two years its getting ropey. So this time I will vac seal the jars and I have bought a wine cooler and keep them at 4c.

But when? Lets say I vac seal now and go into the cooler.....seems like the best way to preserve fresheness and terps.......but......are they curing in there or are they just being stored?

Curing must be a chemical process, surely that process will work more with air rather than in a vacuum and like any chemical process the low temps will slow it down.

Two of my three strains apparently benefit from a long cure.....but are they curing at 4c in vaccum sealed jars?

Now there are other factors at play here, if I dont cure in the wine cooler temps in my room at times will get to 20c plus.......so even if they answer is they arent curing in the cooler, I may go that route anyway.

Im looking to take the first plant down in the next 48 hours and i want to make sure i get the dry and cure as good as possible because its the one thing that fails me every time; I have been looking for a used wine cooler local the last few weeks but alas, i dont have time for that anymore. Ive done a bunch of reading and tried to boil it down to something i have the means for, i just want a bit of assurance it sounds about right.

Im thinking of
A) throwing a small tent in the tiny box/storage room, leave the window cracked open, blinds closed(southern window), one of the small clip fans on the lower setting pointing at the lower corner of the tent to move the air and the top inline fan hole open but no fan in place and then playing around with that to get close to 15c and 55~rh%. or
B) free hanging in the even smaller attic space, tiny window cracked open, small fan blowing towards the corner and aiming for the same temp/rh- This is the less ideal option, the nook is dusty and the paints peeling etc, but the temp will be way better.
Im going to pop out to a shop after posting this to buy some batteries for the govee's and check which has a better base enviroment; im guessing the room has higher than ideal temps and the attic has higher than ideal %rh.
I do have a dehumidifier and humidifier i can put near by in either space but ideally i dont need to, particularly the humidifier without extraction in the tent or near stored stuff in the attic nook. how do people feel about (de)humidifiers in the dry space?

Ive done similar stuff in the past and had bad results, ive also tried free hanging in the shed to no luck- it *always* dries up to fast and gets hay-like. I think in the past i have had the extraction running at its lowest setting which was still to much for the .75x.75 tent and that could have been at least part the issue, hence why im thinking not to use it this time around, opinions?

Maybe im making it to difficult- does it really just boil down to 15c/55-60rh and the air moving gently where every it hangs ?

Thought I would let you know about my DIY method for fast drying a bit of bud to test. I have a load of external SSDs and they are like tiny warming plates - I just pop one on there and in under 24 hours it is perfectly smokeable (tastes rough of course)

Afrernoon fellas, I don't smoke anymore, not done for a couple of years, right this minute I would give anything just to have a straight rollie, can't do that though ,so I was wondering if its best to cure the buds in jars first. I only grow 2 or 3 at a time so if I put it in jars its probably not in them long enough to do anything. Last few days I've been pulling buds off a nearly dried plant and decarbing that then putting it in them empty capsule type things because I don't like the taste of it . Does the curing part just apply if you want to smoke it . Cheers.

	Hi everyone.

Anyone used or got much experience using a dry trim bag?

	Are they any good ?

Are they worth the money and is there much difference between different makes and price tags ?

	Any opinions or info appreciated.

So i know the best way to dry is in a humidity and temp control environment, but I have no access to that anymore and want to dry a few buds if I can , I have a unit inside a shed half a metre long and wide , wondered if I put a hand full of buds in a box or brown bag and stuck a PC fan with a load of damp traps or that 360 ones inside it might work?

Sheds new smells of pine , no treatment to taint the buds.

I made some tincture a while back from the last of the Slurri Fritter that I had but I found out that the alcoholic content really fucks with my gall stones.

I decided to empty all the bottles of tincture into a glass container and let the alcohol evaporate naturally, it's been doing this for about 3 months and this is the result...

	Shiny and sticky as fuck!

There's about a 3mm layer at the bottom of the container, I took some last night in capsules and I slept 2 hours longer than I normally do but I had some crazy dreams as well.

I've just about run out of what I harvested last year and I've smoked all the autos I grew this year already, so I'm left with about half a kilo of buds from my crop in 2021.

I never expected it to last this long tbh and because it was just sitting in a cupboard it's naturally decarbed and it tastes like it too.

I was trying to think of a way of making it taste a little better so it can tide me over until Croptober, I was hoping the autos I grew would fill this little gap but they didn't.

I decided to try soaking some buds in pure freshly squeezed lemon juice and was pleasantly surprised at the results.

There's a definite lemonyness to them and they smoke fine...

I left it soaking for a few hours then strained off the excess and allowed them to dry out, smokes fine.

It's not crazy lemony but the flavour is definitely there.

I was beginning to worry that I'd have to cut one of my plants early but now I'm totally not bothered, this'll do me until harvest time.

The buds are from a Northern Lights x Skunk and a Heavy Grapefruit, two plants that I didn't get around to trimming in 2021 because I grew too many plants (13) and was pissed off with trimming.

I need some new snips after mine disappeared. Until now, I've used the spring-loaded ones (think Fiskars), but a pair of Suizan trimming scissors has caught my eye. I'm curious to know if anyone has tried both types and which style they prefer/makes their hands ache the least. I seem to be getting arthritis or something similar in my right hand.

Just harvested my C99 - I think it's the best ever having finally dialled in LED and new nute regime.

As I was harvesting I was continually rolling the sticky off my fingers until I have a hazelnut sized ball. It's got little bits of leaf in it as they came off as I was trimming.

So what to do with it ? Just treat it as regular hash, heat & crumble into a joint. Or is there some other way.

I recall shoe hash being mentioned before ?

Seems a shame to waste it.
