When do I start auto seeds?

I’ve not been lurking for very long, looks like a solid forum though so thought I’d sign up.

Totally new to growing bud, but I’ve always been keen growing anything really. Fancied a new challenge and used to smoke a fair bit of herb back in my music days and made many a happy memory. 
 

I’ve been building up some equipment in the hope to grow over the darker months and hopefully get things started in the next few weeks.

Been reading up stacks in the last month or so, so hopefully got a decent grounding, but nothing like putting it to practice and also learning from mistakes.

Anyway, hopefully have some updates in the very near future!

Just wondering if anyone could recommend an alternative to amaretto tarmac as I can't get seedstockers seeds to germinate. I've tried all ways and done side by side trials.

Time to try some of the recent Ugorg stuff, I miss the blues, what an incredible plant that bitch was.   I see Ugorg have livers seeds, how do they compare to what blues was 10 year ago?  Same same?   Im gonna buy some and find out anyways, can't resist.

New grower here (mid 2023), had to pause due to location (bustling city).

I caught the bug and have this immense passion for growing and feel utterly depressed i can't proceed atm.

Smoking for 20 years and had no clue there are communities or social events for this beautiful flower (downfall of introvert).

Legal UK user here but sometimes do the odd percy grow .Was told about this place by a good friend who raves about this forum .Im still finding my way around so please excuse any mistakes or stupid questions im bound to ask

I don't usually do these kinda things (mostly because it makes me feel awkward to do so), but I figured this would be a good way to give people an idea of my capabilities (or rather the lack of them). 

I have minor growing experience. 

In 2024 I grew 4 plants out of which 1 died early on (I bought 3 of them pre-raised and she was small and apparently didn't handle the transport too well, then the pests went nuts on her). 

The other 2 I got to flower but then the rot happened. 

The last one was a free seed that came with the plants, it was a Gelato Auto (Fast Buds) seed and she kept blowing my little expectations away over and over again - until ~flowering Day 40, where I decided to emergency yeet her because I had bud rot again. 

I did get some ok bud from it still though, not much (15g-20g) but it was good enough for me to get enjoyment out of smoking it. 

Anyway, that was my only outdoor grow. 

By the end of last year my wife and I moved, this was when I set up to go indoors. 

This went absolutely awful. 

For the run I chose Gelato Auto because she did so well until the rot happened. 

However, apparently planting them in wet soil was (despite having been recommended by several people) a bad idea. 

They grew slow, stunted and with pale/yellow leaves with white edges and eventually the leaves started to crisp away from the outside towards the inside. 

Additionally to that, the soil I used for germination was gnat infested as hell. 

After around 6 weeks they had a height of 10cm and the diameter of my hand, so I cut losses and started over. 

This time I did something different and did not soak or otherwise water the soil. 

I put it straight from bag to pot, after all the soil was moist in the bag already. 

I put the germination soil in a roasting tube and sterilised it in the oven. 

Then I planted the seed and kept the area of the seed moist until germination, then I gave her some pumps with the spray bottle from time to time to keep the soil moist. 

From there on out I slowly increased the water amount I gave and that worked well for a while but I apparently rushed too much because I gave her 750ml on Day 12 and she began to show beginning signs of overwatering. 

Because of that, I asked for help and got the advice to water the pot properly, let her drink it empty, then soak. 

So I watered her. 

Turns out that was apparently a bad idea, same thing is happening now. 

Leaves begin crisping away once more and the pot barely loses weight. 

After I watered (on 01/18), the pot was at 7.7kg. 

The plan was/is to soak at 4kg the earliest (I aimed for 3.7-3.8kg).

The current weight is 5.8kg which feels kinda wrong for that time span. 

If it was just that I wouldn't care, but as she's also crisping so I got concerns. 

I did the same with an even smaller plant and here I'm 90% sure she's not gonna make it. 

With this in mind I wanna send in some fresh girls, photo fems this time (Blue Sunset Sherbert, Barney's Farm). 

The current plan is to plant 5 seeds in 0.5l pots, then repot to 4l pots. 

Meanwhile I'll keep the other ones in the tent in case I am wrong and she/they survive(s). 

I that case I could just keep the vegging going and then repot them to 9l if/when necessary and then repot most of them to 11l  pots once the Gelato(s) got chopped. 

However, that might be a little optimistic in 80×80×180.

Should it become apparent that both plants are hopeless I am considering to just flip to flower and run them short in the 4l pots.

This is mostly for time reasons as the wasted 2+ months put me in a bit of a supply problematic. 

Once that is solved I will happily go for more time consuming approaches

Been reading for a while. Not much of a poster normally but felt the energy was right tonight.

I don’t really “grow” as such. I encourage. Plants respond to intent more than people realise. Same as dogs, same as boilers, same as councils.

I’m based in the Midlands but spiritually coastal. Salt air mindset even inland.

Not here to argue yields or numbers. Chasing numbers is how you miss the moment.

I started growing at 16, bypassing the age box wasn't hard when I came across Thctalk, curiosity got the better of me and I started growing.

After a while then mods found out my age , , I was an outcast , chucked to the shadows, but at that same time a major rift split a bunch of users people had a falling out over something can't remember what.. users who created a new forum, it was to be the best forum, jokes aloud, a live chat with stoners always on chatting away, there were different nationalities, but the majority were British, it was the best forum in its prime imho , that's where I went when THC admins busted me with my age, the forum was called www.Cannabisknowledge.nl

I did a few grows. Was an active member , I ended up becoming a moderator later down the line, my grown wernt the best , but I was a lil dude doing it off my own back , anyways boof age of 19, impregnated the ex , moved out , stopped growing, vanished from the forum and lived life.

My relationship broke down earlier this year, and I'm 32 now, over the past two weeks I thought fuckit.. got myself a 600hps, tent, carbon filter and extraction, fans, humidifier, next week seeds, soil and nutrients then I'm ready to rock.

I've always hoped my old friends have or had a good life.. I say had as a few of the dudes where older when I was 19 (late 40s , 50s) , if your here Bongo I'm not being cheeky I hope I've came back in time before you kick the bucket!, you aswell Deke!! Novablaze! Hopefully some of you are here

Anyways. Any recommendations on seeds, what's these fast flowers all about? Back in my day it was all about autos , are fast flowers worth it? I only ever used full fems.

As the name suggests I'm an absolute beginner at this and know only what Google tells me about growing but after some serious consideration I went and got myself a full grow kit from spiderfarmer. Only big enough for 1 maybe 2 plants, anyway I've set it all up and ilts looking pretty good so will be here with loads of questions soon enough. 

I used to be a part of the forum a good number of years ago, not sure my old account even still exists tbh. During my time away I have been busy learning the craft. Most of my friends either never got high or moved away from it for various reasons, so I suppose it would be nice to meet some like-minded people to share the highs and lows with. I'll upload a few of my favourite images shortly so you can see what I've been up to!
